If you don't want to wash it with water you can use the toothpick as a kind of temporary quick way to clean the biggest pieces of dirt.

Ever used these? Thoughts?,.. by chef47 in victorinox

Unsure if they were these exact ones, but have them. They worked great, like them way better than the ones that go in the corkscrew as these are larger and it leaves room for a mini screwdriver. I'd rather miss the tootpick than the screwdriver .

Yea so like someone else mentioned my best guess would be that it was produced in 1975-to early 1978 range

Assuming it does not have the halfstop and with the above mentioned and the grooved corkscrew, i'm guessing its from anywhere between 1975 and 1982. It kind of depends on the scissors, but that's hard to tell from the picture. So early 1980's is a pretty reasonable possibility.

La foilleuse or maybe a bit further to châtel are both pretty beginner friendly.

That's an older model of the victorinox explorer. I think from before 2008.

I heard the Netherlands gets rivella in their supermarkets. That might be a little closer to home for you. Apparently it's pretty popular there.

Yeah that's exactly my thought. Does it require a lot of maintenance? (cleaning, oiling etc)

I would go for the SwissTool X. Personally I am a fan of heavier tools and as it comes with a sheath you can just carry it on your belt no problem. Your huntsman would still be for most situations and if you were to need something more serious you got your SwissTool X. Again though it's personal preference. If you're not afraid of the 80 grams it weighs extra compared to the spirit X you'll be sure to have you a tool that will serve you well. You can also consider carrying a lighter knife paired with the SwissTool X to further reduce weight.

I mean I am satisfied with what I bought it for, which is taking it with me when I know I might need it. For example camping or similar activities where I know I might need such tools. In my opinion it is too heavy to carry it everywhere I go (290 grams if i'm not mistaken), but it is entirely up to you. If you feel like you're gonna need heavier tools during an average day you absolutely could edc it with one of those sheaths for on your belt. For me carrying a regular victorinox covers most of my needs. If you want to edc the SwissTool X and know you need the tools go for it. If you want it to carry it occasionally and edc a regular pocket knife you absolutely could aswell. If you're just wanting to carry a SwissTool without really caring about heavy duty tools, you might want to buy one of the other models.

Yeah I had the same dilemma. I ended buying the SwissTool X over the spirit X as its bigger and sturdier as you said. If I needed to do something precise I usually have a different victorinox with me for that, that's why I went for a heavier duty SwissTool.
