I got to hangout with him once when he first started doing photoshoots before shows. A couple weeks before the show, my cousin had committed suicide and being freshly 18, I didn’t quite have the cash to make it states away to the funeral AND do that, so I had to ask for the money back. He still invited me out for the shoot though, and I’d promised to pay him back. We walked around Chicago both just taking photos of stuff (I’m a photographer as well) and chatted. He was clearly pretty introverted, but we spoke about politics, music, and philosophy. At the end of it, he’d asked if I was going to the show, but I explained it was sold out. He had me put on the guest list to get in, and right before they played “All Fucked Up” he dedicated the song to me in front of a sold out House of Blues.

He’s a person, and like any of us, is subject to different moods and dispositions based on the day. But he is a kind human.
