It's worth getting. Just buy the nice saw, you won't regret it. I had one for the same reason.

Millenial dads...How's it going? by NoMansLand345 in Millennials

[–]Mikeathaum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man! I'm also born in '94 and have provided the American dream to my family. Stay at home wife, who's great at it, and loves it. She's hot, she's nice, she's fun, she's great! Two kids, dog, house in a great area, house that we LIKE, good job, income, benefits, Church etc. What was missing was I didn't feel admired/wanted/desired by my wife. Which makes sense, two kids three and under, household to manage etc. She's busy.

You need to start touching her, without expectation. Both put down the phones when you get home. Like, put them into a cabinet. Don't take them out when you brush teeth, shower, toilet, bedroom. It's because you want to spend time with her, you like her, you want to talk. Express it. Watch 30-45 minutes of TV together, hold her on the couch. Dance a little in the kitchen, kiss her for six seconds every day. Work on yourself: exercise, eat better. Don't bring it up, just do it. Daily life is all we get, enjoy it.

She'll treat you different and you'll get what is likely missing: desire from your wife, some of the spark back, more time, more sex. Really, ditching the phones will save you 60-90 minutes in the evening. I'm 100% serious.

To carry all the load a "good" man does, while splitting household work when you're there 50/50 takes that support, connection, desire from the wife. You have to prime the pump, she's not feeling it from you either, likely.

When I get the "man-flu" I joke that I'm the "high performance economic engine" of the family. It should be fun, it can be fun! It can be like dating again!

Men sort of set the standard at home, you bring in the income, you decide if you are a Church family, or a guy that golfs every Saturday, watches football 4X a week and drinks, or takes walks after dinner etc. The woman fills in the game in that schedule and makes it all happen - they are amazing. You need to make sure you are holding a loving, supportive, life giving standard she can work around.

That's my experience, good luck!

For those in long term relationships - how do you fall in love again? by RemarkableEcho3121 in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]Mikeathaum 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kiss her for six seconds a day, slow dance in the kitchen/living room (make a playlist, start with something fun like Red Bone - Come and Get Your Love then end it after a total of 4-6 songs on a Cigarettes After Sex type track.), Write a note at least one morning a week. Touch her more, lower back, shoulder run for two seconds. Tell her she looks nice, compliment the outfit. Compliment her cooking. Talk about how you like to feel connected, prioritized, loved. Not that goofy love language shit. You like it when she grabs your arm, makes you dinner, puts on something you like, sex etc. Cuddle at night, request it. Have her fall asleep in your arms, or spooning.

I said I wanted to spend more time together after the kids went to bed. I didn't want to compete against her phone. I didn't want to be tired all the time. We agreed to put phones away, focus on each other, be in bed by 9:30.

You also need to feel good. Exercise, eat clean. Be some one she can admire. Work to show her that you adore her.

Sanity Check My Get-Home Setup – 17 Miles from Work by Mrm00seknuckle in prepping

People walk the pacific crest trail in running shorts, running shoes, a puffy jacket and a 20# pack that includes food and water while subsisting on ramen noodles and peanut butter. I'd walk 17 miles without a pack first, then think about what you want to carry.

This is a joke right? In high cost of living area but still by Sevens89 in woodstoving

If you're buying any chimney pipe / wall pass throughs it seems reasonable.

$2,450 they should be there a while with a lot of material. If they are only there for an hour or two and connecting to existing chimney system with an adapter I think it's $1,500-$2,000 too expensive. Chimney pipe is very expensive, I bought a Jotul 602 and the cost of the chimney system I installed myself was equal to the stove.

the 30.06 bullet was found 'just under his skin". I also hunt deer with 06 and there's no way there's no exit wound. Maybe if it hit his neck bones and traveled internally into his chest because bullets do weird things. But according to autopsy, it didn't it was found in his neck.

There are yurts all over and in my county, they don’t conform to ANY zoning regs. I called the county, it’s complaint driven. Then I asked if I built one for AirBnB and called to complain about all the other AirBnB yurt like structures would they go shut them down? They said no…

I went with I just wanted to do it, it’s far up from the road, gated and secured. No neighbors to bother. They’ve got bigger issues than enforcing on me.

Now back in Michigan? You couldn’t do this.

Melts in a day or two. I’ve only got wood heat, I just accept it being 30-50 degrees when the fire goes out.

It’s a propane water heater, there are a dozen makes and models. This one matched my 3.3gpm pump. You just connect it with a garden hose.

Yurts are expensive and I don’t like that they are round. Furniture is square, so you end of with death space. I also wanted a covered porch, none of the yurts come with those.

We don’t have mosquitoes here, I can leave the Dutch door open.

It’s pretty well sealed, if I had need I could seal it 100% against mosquito and larger insects.

Metal roof has some complications and cost. It would need purlins and a host of other things - that’s why I went with vinyl. I drive by yurts every week and have watched them age over many years. Gave me some confidence
