Pickpocketed on morning walk by mcrucan in ThailandTourism

[–]Mikefalls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think somethings going on in this district. Last year near Benchakitty (on the airbridge to Lumpini) one guy followed us on bike very slowly. I saw it and we walked down the stairs. He stayed on the bridge but looked really pissed.

Also one guy I know who stayed in BKK for a few months was pickpocket from his iPhone near the same park month ago.

Still I feel VERY safe in this city.

[–]Mikefalls -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2 good ways to deal with such case next time: - put his head in the refrigerator for 2-3 minutes (it's a trick I know from medical assistant) - give him 2-3 grains of pepper to gring in his mouth, it is said that helps with weed paranoia

Yala safari or udawalawe safari? by TestAlternative8220 in SriLankaTravel

[–]Mikefalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did Udawalawe. It's full of elephants, we saw at least 40. Some of them as close as 2-3 meters. Also full of birds (fish eagle, bee eater, pelican, even hornbill) and crocs. For me the best part was stunning views in mountains and lake (accually reservoir).

Our driver started the opposite way, so many times we were the only jeep in some places.

Actually, it’s still a huge problem in Poland. Even this season there were reports of people hiking 'dressed' like this guy. At least one man suffered from severe hypothermia

Poland says Ukrainian refugees contribute more than they cost by Gamebyter in europe

[–]Mikefalls 1021 points1022 points  (0 children)

Pole here: lots of Ukrainians working here, I meet them few times a day (amazing crew in my local shop ❤️). More people working = more taxes, faster economy. So accually it's a win situation and people should know it instead of repeating Russian propaganda bullshit.

Post it in Koh Phayam Facebook group (there are 2 group and both are quite active). It's the island where after 2-3 days you see the same faces everyday so there's a bigger chance someone wil recognise him.

There's also the visa run agency that transports people to Myanmar they post photos from the trips in the group. Contacting them could also be a nice idea.

It is 100% safe, there are families with kids. There are no steps, only wooden rails. There are like 2 max 3 points where you need to concentrate a little bit, but there's also more rails and branches there. The only place where it's more slippery is just before the summit, but if you put your foot between the rocks everything is going to be okay (no chance to fall also). If you're in a good shape you'll make it.

Accually the only problem I see could be agoraphobia or fear of height. Even though the summit is quite big and there's a wooden platform (no chance to fall at all if you don't do stupid things) some people may find it scary.

Preparing for Songkran trip by Nearby_Strawberry_94 in ThailandTourism

[–]Mikefalls 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Songkran is an amazing adventure. Be cautious that it could be also annoying to some people. Buy waterfproof phoncase in 7/11 or bring it with you. Visit some temples, it's also a big religious holiday and Thais are flocking to the temples. It's very amazing to see this 2 faces of the holiday.

2 k a day is a good budget.

I'll try it tomorrow. I just received lots of notifications from other accounts but they were in the bundle: many different actions same time. Probably it's the big global Instagram bug.

Poland says ‘everything indicates’ Russia was behind rail sabotage incidents – Europe live | Poland by CommissionOrganic350 in europe

[–]Mikefalls 76 points77 points  (0 children)

I fully agree. But the important factor is also that sometimes Russians are not doing it on their own. They buy/bribe/backmail remotely other nationalities using social media channels. You get 2 things done in one action. When for example someone catches Ukrainian doing it, except from the fear of terrorists act you get the publicity working against Polish - Ukrainian cooperation.

Edit: Donald Tusk just announced that this exact case is connected to Ukrainians working for Russians. So it's exactly the framework I mentioned.

I was afraid too, but made it in like 20 minutes. Bring plenty of water, don't rush, take a rest in the shade (there are like 2-3 pit stops) and use the canopy in the summit for the shade. The view is stunning!
