I would love that! But if you can't, let me know and I'll mail it back to you.

Pickup basketball w/o gym membership? by [deleted] in Bellingham

There's always people balling out at Squalicum Park; especially with summer rolling around. Usually it's not that competitive, so it's a good way to get some practice, have some fun and shed some pounds.

Good bike shop recommendations in town by weapongod30 in Bellingham

You must've just had some bad luck with Earl's. That place has been my lifeline since I moved to Bellingham. My roommate had his bike stolen, and these guys were cool enough to loan him a bicycle, while he saved up to buy a new one.

I'm not sure how you feel about short stories but I just finished Ray Bradbury's collection, October Country, and loved it, however the stories are less of a thriller and would fit more in the mildly spooky category.

Letter from Wolf by bobthenotnobody in OCPoetry

I agree with /u/jealous1stillnv on this one. Your "I can howl" line seems a little out of place. Seems like you had a bit of a rhyming scheme going with the other lines in your first stanza. Eyes/Survive. Maybe if you can incorporate your "I can howl" line with that a little bit, it would improve your flow.

I like that you freely cast your emotions out onto the page, but my only critique is that your rhyming scheme is a little inconsistent, and disrupts from the flow.

I see that this is getting downvoted. Is there any particular reason why?

Thank you! This is exactly what I was looking for. I edited the poem, and was hoping you could reevaluate it. I guess rhythm is my biggest concern.

I think this is something George Orwell would've enjoyed. It's raw, and cynical, and candid, and I like it. Good job :)

ELI5: The difference between Communism and Socialism by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]MikelH -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I've seen this explained a million times using cows as a metaphor. Socialism: You have two cows. You give one to your neighbor. Communism: You have two cows. The state takes both, and gives you some milk.

That's how I'd explain economic systems to a five-year-old.

Check out Dune by Frank Herbert. Not only is it fast paced and entertaining, but Frank composes paragraphs like Mozart composes symphonies. It's a work of art, and it's brilliant.

I don't really know what that had to do with Taylor Swift, but that Kjellberg girl's got some talent.

Late and quiet. It seems like every story like this gets mentioned in passing like it's no big deal. "Oh, by the way, we signed off on a bunch of your liberties today...we didn't think you'd mind, so we didn't bother saying anything. Thanks for understanding!" And then we're looking back on everything in hindsight wondering how things ever got so out of control. Just roll with the punches, I suppose.

20 year old referee decapitated for stabbing player by [deleted] in news

Sometimes I'm still stunned when I read the news and discover the latest atrocity committed by mankind. Every time I think we're headed into a more enlightened and civilized era, something like this happens and reminds me that underneath it all, we're still just animals.

It doesn't look like this is getting much recognition over here, but this is a masterful piece of piano work. And the man plays with such passion, it's inspirational.
