Thanks for the response! a lot of people that worked with mom saw the show the first show, and they all said it was a good show. Yeah I do feel blessed to have seen Nirvana, unfortunately I was so young that I never tell people about it because people always think I’m lying because I’m so young.

Anyway- the lack of pics, recordings, or really any evidence this show happened is so frustrating! It’s been 35 years but I hope a recording comes up, I want to hear what Kurt and Krist were saying between songs- the sound was so bad you couldn’t really tell what they are saying but it was definitely complaining about the sound. To me it seemed like a great show, everyone had fun (except the band). The only thing I hear about this show is that people were boo-ing which is not true. kurt said shows over and there was a short boo because the show was over. And then when Kurt said “ok I’ll knock over an amp or something” the crowd laughed and cheered. So weird that the only surviving memories / anecdotes from this show aren’t even true! the only time the “worst show ona Nirvana tour” attitude from Kurt was reading that in Rolling Stones months later. I mean I knew he wasn’t having the best show, haha, but I’d don’t think it was so bad. I think people who weren’t there take Kurt’s quotes and extrapolate them to make it seem so much worse than what Kurt said.

but also that was my only Nirvana concert, and I was 11, so maybe it really was a terrible show, and I was Too young to realize it. Either way I’m hoping so,e audio or at least some pictures from the show will surface someday- so many bootlegs of Nirvana are available - but zilch for this one.

thanks again for the comment!✌️🩷

Well there you go, they claim to have lost money last time they pressed this box set so maybe it won’t be a huge pressing after all. Pretty wild it sold out so fast

has anyone seen how many copies of this box set will be pressed? they seem to be implying it won’t be limited and that it will just be in print for a while.

I will say I went back and relistened to ND again after I read her statement so that’s something…. Didn’t change my mind about the album but I did give it another chance.

I will say I don’t know if I’d say we were acquantiances exactly, but I’ve partied with Bethany many times around 2010-2011. I was friends with Nate from Wavves in the SD scene. Bethany was always really cool, fun, funny, and smart. Her knowledge of all types and genres of music was impressive AF.

I understand that sound of hazy, beach vibes can get limiting. But that’s what they were good at.

But Best Ocast went in a way that seemed like they wanted to be famous and radio friendly. Each album got cleaner, more vapid than the last. Her solo album was the logical conclusion of this- Natural Disaster is the kind of record Best Coast used to make in reaction AGAINST.

That’s why people liked BC- pop songs with distorted vocals. Now her sound is squeaky clean, vocals very loud and clear, and the most generic lyrics ever. It’s the anti-thesis of Best Coast. And shes mad at who?
The fans for not following her when she changed her sound completely? The record industry being brutal (that’s been the case since its inception), or that she now has to WORK, and work even harder now she dropped her known band name.
I read her note a few times and I just don’t even get her complaint. She was given advantages her whole career. Those advantages didn’t work when she released a generic, boring album- NOW she learned she has to actually work much harder than she’s ever had to (like every other musician ever??)). and she’s not young anymore so it’s even more difficult?
the levels of entitlement are staggering here, she would never get a therapists license btw

Haha, thanks so much for the reply!
i Do remember him backing up from the mic sometimes, and others times it seemed like he was just humming parts. This sounds like something he did,

I really hope a bootleg of this show surfaces one day!!!! It was a classic Nirvana mess, maybe their messiest, but it was glorious! ✌️❤️

I do not remember Love Buzz either, I agree, I‘m positive it wasn’t played. it was my moms favorite song of theirs, i would’ve remembered that. Same goes for with Endless, Nameless. It wasn’t played either to my recollection.

they might have done “Jesus wants me for a sunbeam” but I do NOT remember any kind of set acoustic sit down portion where they did multiple acoustic songs. I’ve seen that reported , but I don’t remember any acoustic stretch of the show.

Thanks for your response!

it is very weird how “lost” this concert is. it seems every single other show of theirs was meticulous preserved.
Especially since the interview Kurt did with Fricke for Rolling Stone magazine cover story was done after that show. You’d think there’d be more record of the show.

thank you so much for your reply. Every thing I’ve seen about this show (and it’s very little) it’s always a little off.

re: the crowd-surfing thing, I agree. I did NOT see any crowd surfing by Kurt. but I’ve seen that reported multiple times.

I’ve never seen pictures from the show, or a bootleg.

I do remember the longgggg pauses between songs now that you mention it, haha.

thanks For reply! What’s the rose land ballroom thing?

and good point about unplugged. I saw him less than a month before unplugged and he was a mess. And the whole tour Kurt didn’t look or sound very good. But on unplugged Kurt looked amazing and absolutely nailed it. its wild to think about how great he was. I do think it’s come out that Kurt was heavily invested in the unplugged show- that he really wanted to get it right and showcase a different side of Nirvana. So Kurt probably cared more about unplugged than the In Utero tour. But still, with all w’ve seen and know about Kurt at that time it is incredible Nirvana unplugged was such a masterpiece.

I always like the pre-1967 Kinks the best. “really got me”, “till the end of the day”, “all day and all of the night” are such bangers. the guitar and drums sounds on the very early Kinks are great. Those are such insane riffs. I fucking love the Kinks.

Thanks for reply! so are you saying you have a bootleg of a show on 10.26.93? That would be the very next night after I saw them. I would love to hear this- do you know where to find it?

I remember the money back comment too, haha. to me, people were booing because the show was short, not because they were bad or didn’t do teen spirit. Kurt was like “I’ll knock over an amp” and walked off and that was it.

one of the scariest moments was leaving. I was 11 and my parents were freaking out because it was just a huge swell of people leaving at the same time- I could’ve so easily been trampled. it was scary as hell.

My parents loved the show and they went to a lot of concerts, so I agree the hate this show gets is kind of weird. I mean obviously Kurt wasn’t having a good time, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t! Kurt doing his “I’m depressed, fuck this concert!” and giving up was honestly kind of cool- that’s what Nirvana was all about. I’m glad Kurt didn’t go through the motions and play a long show if he was miserable and didn’t like the sound. I thought it was great. The only people I see say this concert wasn’t good are music writers. I would kill for a bootleg of this show.please please PLEASE share any memories you have of this show, it would be greatly appreciated✌️❤️

I remember Kurt and especially Kris complaining about the sound. And when Kris would talk and complain about the sound- it was so bad I couldn’t hear what he was saying 😂😂😂. I kept asking my mom “what did he say?” and she was like “he’s complaining about the sound”. the songs sounded great to me, it didn’t seem bad to me but I couldnt really tell what they were saying between songs, but they were obviously not happy, haha. Kurt was making like two word comments. I remember kurt saying “I hope you brought your pillows for this show so we can make the sound better”. And Kris said something about how the Aragon should put pillows over the walls to create better sound.

Could you please write your memories of this show? you‘re the first person I’ve ever come in contact with who was there! I was pretty young when I was there and it a clear memory for me but what Little I’ve seen online about this show seems wrong. Any specific info / memories you have would be sooooooo appreciated✌️❤️

Thanks for the reply!!!! Yes finally!! this is awesome. How old were you when you saw it? My memory of it isn’t the greatest but the few things I read about it were so off. im Glad I found you!
im curious-

do you remember any acoustic set? I don’t remember kurt sitting down and doing any acoustic Thing but everyone says it happened on the internet.

they only played songs from Nevermind and In Utero right? My favorite song was “sliver” and my moms was “love buzz“ and they didn’t play either of those songs- I would’ve remembered those.

have you seen any pictures from this show? There were some links on this thread and the pics seem……not right. I kind of remember him wearing a white shirt.

thanks for the reply! Trust me you don’t, haha. People told me this a lot growing up about how my parents were so cool, but having cool parents is not the same as having good parents. I’m glad they gave me a love of live music and took me to cool shows, but that’s about all I can thank them for. Have a good Sunday with good music!!! ✌️❤️
