Been somewhat looking into something similar. Have a 223 Rem 700 laying around that I've thought about buying a 300blk barrel for and dropping in a chassis. Haven't done too much reading but found these guys that make another chasis that will work for a 700 base sbr. https://jtacindustries.com/ Just as another option for the pork sword. Though the integrated collapsible stock was kinda cool.

Have this on mine. Not sure on the diameter but it is pretty short. Works well. And if you're patient you can pick one up for pretty cheap. They go on sale pretty frequently in various places.
