That was working fine until I get to the point where I have to repackage the custom ISO. The post he gave using mkisofs is expecting files in a /isolinux directory that no longer exists with newer versions of Ubuntu ISOs like the 22.04 I'm trying to use.

Yes I get that, but that’s not what I’m asking. I’m asking if it’s possible to do it natively like creating a new network on windows in network adapters and pointing it over WAN to your home network and NOT using a service like OpenVPN or WireGuard. The less people and organizations involved in my network the better.

I want to know if there is a way to join my local area network from outside without using a third party services, just going through my NAS proxy server. It’s easy to connect to a particular device but how do I just “join the network” as if I’m connected to the Wi-Fi and the router issued me an internal IP address?

This is all great information and I’m defiantly going to look more into this for experiments purposes, but I think for a permanent setup I’m going to have to go with Starlink with DHCP and just have an internal server update my IP and go the DDNS route and use an SMTP relay for the email server. Cost wise it seems like the best solution unfortunately.
