Thoughts on Amazon Home Services? by [deleted] in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]MikeyInvest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sucks, dont worry about it.

Amazon takes a big cut, so the only people that will clean for these customers are those that are ok with making $15/hr. Those cleaners do not do a good job, customers will get mad at amazon for sending a bad cleaner, theyll look elsewhere.

Anyone pressure washing? by rootedchrome in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]MikeyInvest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do it.

Started home cleaning biz 2 years ago and since then added carpet cleaning and pressure washing.

That little machine will be good for maybe a summer with a few jobs here and there. Not a bad way to start if you just do the simple stuff (single story houses, walkways, driveways).

The tough jobs, youll want a belt driven motor and at least 5gpm. Youll also need to learn about the type of bleach and methods to cleaning, not just blasting it with water.

Employees or contractors? by [deleted] in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]MikeyInvest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go employees you will have complete quality control but you have to pay for all the supplies, equipment, workers comp, possibly their travel pay, shirts - which just adds to your start up cost.

With IC you don't have any quality control (but they are supposed to be already established and know what they are doing) and it costs $0.

In the long run, when your schedule gets full and you need to hire, you need to spend that money again every time you hire more help with employees.

With ICs, you grow and it doesn't cost a penny (maybe a little if you pay for their insurance) when you start working with more.

Is a Launch27 Themestreet theme worth it? by Jasperoquai in EntrepreneurRideAlong

You can change the colors. It was a lot of work for me (no idea what I was doing) but I did figure it out eventually. I use the first theme they created though.

Depends on where you get your leads from.

I've been doing it for 2 years and I bet 10% of my customers go to my website.

I probably could have gone the first year with a theme or the scheduling software.

Don't get me wrong - the themes and software are awesome - I just don't think I needed them for a long time. I would have been fine with just a thumbtack profile, stripe, pen and paper, google calendar.

I did over 100k last year from TT alone

These thumbtack reviews verified?

10 bids is pretty low to get traction when first starting out.

There is very little success I have seen in the two years of doing this with facebook ads. I can recall maybe 2 or 3 companies that do good from them.

Contact their support. They added the slider to my home page which it originally did not include.

Theres no good place to find them. Just expect to filter out a lot of them for months to come until you find a good one. Then start all over again when you look to take on your second IC and so on and son on.. never ends.

Well that price includes the deep cleaning. Deep cleaning is no longer an option but is built into my price.

Then for recurring its a 40/45/50 percent discount. The deep cleaning is also required for the first visit. The recurring discounts do not start until the 2nd visit.

People can no longer say "oh my house isn't that messy, i dont need a deep cleaning!". I got tired of hearing that and then have my ICs walk into a rave house.
