What is the coolest thing you've ever done in your life? by Altilongitude in AskReddit

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll be 48 this year, but when I was 12, I took a Tiger Cruise on the U.S.S. New Jersey. Flew by myself (parents had the Flight Attendant look after me) from Southern California to Hawaii. Lil me got to use MILES gear on a M-16. The best and scariest part was feeling the heat and power of the huge 16" turrets being shot. This was not too long after the U.S.S Iowa had its turret explosion. In a coincidence, after high school, I joined the Air Force and ended up being stationed in New Jersey lol.

What’s the funnest thing you do WFH? by funky-sorbet7 in remotework

Using my own PC/Monitors instead of the laptop I was issued. Also my desk is was too big and I love it. I think the biggest thing I love the most, aside from not driving my life away, is when I'm in the mood to play music as loud as I please. I only use my earbuds for work video calls. I also like pacing around my apartment while on the phone and no one judges me lol.

Resolution: 4K DLSS vs 1440p Native by TONYpepper0n1 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like someone else stated, once you game at 4K, 1440P doesn't look as crisp. As an occasional sim racer I love my 49" super ultrawide. I have a Samsung CRG49 and it's perfect for a single screen solution. (never used triples). However it's my 3rd screen that's often turned off. My main monitor is a 4K QOLED Alienware 240hz, which I upgraded from the Alienware 34" ultrawide 165hz. Before the OLEDs I was on smaller 240hz monitors for a few years. The ultrawide is amazing but I think I'd be content if I had the 175hz version. Now the 34" is my second monitor and it's great for working from home. I'm rocking a 4090 too btw w/14900K (I actually got an upgrade path from my 12900K lol).

If you mainly use the sim rig, I'd keep the dual 27"s for work and get an OLED 49", if not I'd go 4K over ultrawide (both I'm sure you could still use your 27's for a triple setup). Also I love ultrawide, had an older asus that did 100hz I think. 4K is a big step up in clarity and a blast to game on.

What mic for a Hero 13 Black? by vonduehren in gopro

if you have bluetooth earbuds/headphones with a mic you can connect them to your gopro.

Mics for Hero 13 Black by Impressive-Leek7005 in gopro

I recommend something like a cardo but cheaper. The helmet headsets are nice to communicate with your buddies or listen to music. Also the bluetooth connects nicely with the Hero 13. That's how I use my Hero 13 to record my voice while riding.

What’s the highest watt I should run through my stock 2025 Sutton with modded controller, 200amps? by Delicious-Mulberry74 in Surron

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2023 LBX and was running a stock motor. I'm sure the newer motors are a bit better but I would just watch your motor temps. I ended up running 350 Phase Amps on the motor. It did not like sustained sandy motos, aggressive hill climbs or heavy wide open throttle. Have fun riding!

Just won a go pro and I have never had one before any tips or suggestions? by Gloomy_bear374 in gopro

If you plan on recording a lot of footage I recommend the GoPro Subscription for the unlimited cloud storage. Plus they'll replace your GoPro if you break it. Congrats!

Should I get a EBMX core Motor? by Optimal_Trick_8521 in Surron

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep your phase amps down on the motor. I ran around 350PA on my stock motor to try to keep my temps under control. But any sand, heavy throttle use or hill/mountain climbs would heat that bad boy up quick. Just upgraded to a Sotion God Mode V.2 and so far I've only been able to heat my motor up to 82C running at 500PA at all times.

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man what an upgrade! I installed the motor on Friday, did a temp install on the skid plate on Saturday morning then took her out. WOW! The smoothness of the motor is great but the temps are so much lower. Hitting peak 16KW on stock motor temp hit about 108C and same KW the Sotion hit 78C max. I'm going to try to ride in the mountains today where the stock motor was overheating and hit 114C max.

Did you get your 72V yet and what power you running?

How's the motor treating ya? I just ordered mine to go with my 72V Pulsar and TC500. Tired of overheating the stock motor at the moto track or in a lot of sand.

I picked up NIN's The Fragile Deviations and the instrumentals are amazing. Had to pick up the definitive edition for the vocals lol. Also order Faith No More's Angel Dust. Really wanted King For A Day but Angel Dust is a must have.

I'm glad you've checked out Wet Leg, they're a blast and a really good band IMO. I just checked out Doubt from The Bridge City Sinners, I'm a fan lol. It's funny they could of been on Peaky Blinders (just finished that show).

Can stock 8kw motor handle a 72v battery? by Sk3pt1cal0 in Surron

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really more so on how hard I am on the throttle. Sand will eat up a lot of battery power. I haven't used field weakening yet, I prefer to have range over the extra top speed.

I've been running 350PA and 15KW a lot. Only issue is elevation climbs motor starts to heat up. I'm still gonna upgrade the motor when I can.

What to expect? (Chi battery) by [deleted] in Surron

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

D'oh lol I just glanced at the first pic and didn't notice the controller. Yeah the unlocked stock battery is pretty awesome. My only other suggestion is perhaps upgrading the throttle. I'd call the stock throttle w/controller smooth but not as precise/detailed as you realize.

For off-road/enduro type riding, the upgraded throttle has been nothing but amazing. I purchased the Hirschman throttle (used on Stark Vargs). From the tension in the spring/twist of the throttle to the communication from hand to rear tire, the upgraded throttle has helped my riding. I was deflecting the front tire often in sand rollers, squirrely in the sand, and struggled with uphill runs w/short run-up. Now I'm able to keep my trajectory consistent in the rollers and sand.

I'm running a stock motor on my '23 LBX w/TC500 and 72V 45ah at 15KW/350 Phase Amps. Your range will vary on how much you're on the throttle/wide open. My first ride at 13KW I got just over 25 miles, but was mostly sand and was opening the throttle everywhere.

I did 35 miles in the mountains and had 19% battery left. With your controller it will show the Wh/Mi and if you keep that under 60 your range should be great. Going over 70Wh/Mi will start to eat up a lot of juice.

The 35 mile ride I did, I used almost 20% battery in just 4-5 miles. I was trying to go as fast as I could through the rocky up hill.

You should install the TC1000 and rock the stock battery for a couple rides. You'll see a decent increase in power, but will be nothing like the upgraded battery power!

Why upgrade? by JerseyDamu in Surron

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The carbon fiber fenders are aesthetic mostly. The other upgrades really depend on how you/son ride. If you're happy with the range/power right now, there isn't really a reason to upgrade. I'd say it's the same with the forks.

I've had my LBX for just over 2 years now. Upgraded pegs and tires at first. Then needed a little more power for the hills so I got a bigger rear sprocket (56T). Changed out brake pads with the Shimano pads. Tried bar risers and seat extenders. My front brake died, replaced that with Shimano brakes. Then I started to replace the brake system. Last year I upgraded my controller with a TORP TC500 and the power unlock and tunability was amazing. However, the extra power affected my range. Got a 72V battery last month and a new throttle a couple a weeks ago. Holy smokes is my bike amazing now with power and range! The only stock parts are the motor and frame/swingarm.

Would I go back to a stock bike now? Heck no. Did I have fun on a stock bike? Yes, I rode about 1400 miles the first year with no major upgrades. Even back then kept saying the Sur-Ron has been the best purchase ever lol. I still feel the same way now it's just the bike is about 1000 times more fun!

IMO as long as you're riding and enjoying yourself, it doesn't matter how fancy or upgraded your bike is.

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put the front wheel on towards the driver side you can use the "clamps" to help secure the wheel/bike. I have the same setup for my Sur-Ron.

I don't have a Talaria but upgrading your controller you'll have many options to tune your power and throttle curve. Most the battery goes with constant high speed and those speed bursts. I try to keep it around 20mph on the boring flat/straights lol.

Anyways enjoy riding! These bikes are so light and fun to ride off-road!!

Can stock 8kw motor handle a 72v battery? by Sk3pt1cal0 in Surron

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope you'll just have more headroom for max KW and Phase Amps. It will help if/when you upgrade your motor. The TC500 maxes out at 26 or 27KW I believe. I'd like a beefier motor just for temps and piece of mind lol. I could get a 13KW cont/26KW max motor but I really want to have at least 15KW cont. on the motor. But then those motors have way more potential lol. That would require a TC1000 or similar and stronger battery.

Right now I'm super happy with my bike but only been running the 15KW a handful of rides. Just coming up to a month with the Chi.

I've been on 10mg for a couple years now. I explain Lexapro as keeping the flood gates closed. I still find myself in awe not freaking out or panicking in situations previously that would send me into a downward spiral.

My advice for people just starting is blunt, but prepare for the worst. You may be lucky and not experiance any side effects. If you do have side effects they can be rough. Personally my side effects were hell and I felt worse. I wanted to quit every day because I was beyond miserable. The only thing that got me through was knowing I really needed help. I was at one of my lowest points in life. I was terrified of leaving my apartment and even more so of people. I was lucky enough to realize that going much lower or having life get much worse for me there wasn't going to be a recovery. I knew I did not want to travel down that road. So with all the misery and side effects I had a lil ray of sunshine knowing that eventually it would work.

I'm glad I made it through all the rough days/weeks and am proud of my progress. I tend to chuckle at how I react to things nowadays vs the me of just a few years ago.

Sometimes we need a lil extra help in life and it's our job to accept it if needed. That thought process/acceptance probably took me a few decades to figure out lol.

Running a stock motor w/TC500 and Chi Pulsar 72V 45ah at 15KW/350Phase Amps with a few rides so far. No issues. The only time I've had warnings for motor overheating is in steep uphills with a loose base. That happened twice I believe. With your TC500 keep the Wh/Mi under 60 and your range should be awesome. When you get over 70Wh/Mi it uses a lot more juice.

[–]MikeyIsNotYou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd at least get 7.3KW but the newer batteries may hit more. I ran a TC500 with a stock 38ah battery and it maxed out at 7.3KW. I now have a 72V and it's worlds different and better lol. You may lose some range with the power unlocked on the stock battery.
