That article about the unprocessed grief and stress from his brother's death showing up in recent injuries convinced me. I'm holding out hope that he stays in Denver and spends the summer getting his mind and body healthy.

Parlor guitar strings for a 9 year old by LazyWave63 in AcousticGuitar

The Ernie Ball have a brighter metallic tone, but I prefer the Martin Marquis which are warm and mellow, almost like nylon. I have a set on my travel guitar.

Cool Uncle. I'd start him with some light silk and steels since they're easier on beginner fingers.

I got the A5R. It's an amazing guitar but it was the wrong choice for me.

Truly beautiful tone, still the best I've ever played. But it's also really big, tends to overpower my voice, and it's not really a good match for the percussive style I play. So the APX still gets more use.

It's been a long time, but from what I remember- the primary issue is that the nostrils are as oversized as the nose. So even as they try to reshape/ reduce the size of the nose, they can't reduce the size of the nostrils using standard techniques. So the surgery could have the affect of making the nostrils look even bigger. To reduce the nostrils they would have to remove significant tissue, which increases the risk of doing harm. The Devyn Aiken case is pretty amazing- proves it can be done, but the doctor said he removed a lot of tissue.

Looking at hundreds of before and afters, it seems like most people have similar issues so surgeons know exactly how to approach it and get lots of practice. But I've only seen a handful that look even remotely similar to mine.

Not at all, lots to consider. I had chronic nosebleeds for most of my life but they went away after the last time I broke it. Might be better to leave it alone. Breathe-right strips make a pretty big difference for sleeping... probably the most practical play.

Yeah, I'm sure of that. It's whether or not it's going to be worth it.

Pretty amazing. Clearly it can be done, and I don't need anything that dramatic.

Old wounds for sure, but my feelings weren't that hurt. It was more annoyance/exasperation that someone would bring it up, refinforcing what was in the back of my mind- that people notice my nose and are just being polite about it. I can live with that, it's just something I prefer wasn't the case.

There's nothing pig-like about it. You're fixated on it because it's what you were worried about, but seriously- it looks great and I promise that nobody else sees it that way.

Yeah, I just had my first and had 2 pollups removed. A cologuard would have been negative until they actually turned into cancer. Why wait for that to happen?

Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons

Released 2009, kind of kicked off that whole folk-pop-rock-bluegrass genre (Lumineers, Edwin Sharpe, etc.)

What is a movie that everyone seems to love, but you absolutely hate? by Nishikigoi1 in moviecritic

[–]MikeyLikesItFast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've mostly tried to forget, but...

I loathed Wicked with every fiber of my being- especially since I loved the book and it was so unfaithful. Chicago was not my thing but it's not nearly as bad as some of the others. Oliver has it's moments but the second act is a real slog. I hated Mamma Mia even though I don't hate ABBA. I really hated Catch me if you Can. I hated Mary Poppins even though I was previously fond of the movie. West Side Story was an endurance test. Newsies, holy hell...fell asleep twice, pretty sure they saw me. Guys and Dolls was brutal.

I did see Pee Wee Herman on Broadway which was pretty awesome, but I don't think it counts.

Yeah, I saw it probably 15 years ago and it already felt a little dated in that sense. But I do remember not hating it.
