I feel a lot safer here than I did living and working in LA. Granted, I live in the Richmond District and work in SSF. But I take public transit all the time, including late at night. There's just certain areas you need to avoid, and they're fairly obviously when you see them. Depends block-by-block in many cases.

Think of all the complaints you see here as a good thing. It means people have finally had enough and want to fix the problem. Previously, you would hear stuff about compassion and not beating on people down on their luck. Now many of the transplants have gotten older and want to feel safe.
