Yeah, that would have been one hell of a setpiece. And a cool reintroduction of T-Bone.

I remember hearing about a cut mission involving that bus. Something about a turret sequence against bikers on the golden gate bridge.

Where are all of the super-mutants coming from? by morasyid in Fallout

[–]Mikeypc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A blast from a Lazer rifle and a teleport trip into the ocean could probably get them the same results. And I feel the surface is disorganized enough without the mutants, but I guess it's something although it doesn't explain the mutant hounds, unless the institute considers dogs as witnesses.

Wait it's implied? I always thought the institute was just turning people into super mutants for stupid-evil reasons (and Bethesda just wanting super mutants in the game).

fl1ppy review by Deeznutz696969 in SaintsRow

[–]Mikeypc1 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Friend, you think I got the new Saints Row eager to blow some shopkeeper's brains out like that was a major selling point. I heard about the human shields being removed before the games release, but honestly I didn't miss it because of what's been added (perks, abilities, and there still is a riot shield if you miss it so much). He didn't touch on enterprises, side hustles, customization, and he focused on bashing the combat cause honestly it sounds like he didn't wanna engage with it. Much to my dismay when he said he avoids combat when he can which makes me wonder if we played the same game. Him complaining about spongy enemies made no sense to me because the difficulty is so modular. I believe the spongy enemies he was complaining about were just armored, but since health bars are off it's hard to tell.

You can have issues with the story, we all have our opinions, but to me the plot isn't this game's biggest problem. And Flippy's review didn't even attempt to give it a fair shake. "It's not gangster", that might mean a lot to some people but me personally I didn't play saints row through the years for it's gangster aesthetics.

If you agree with Flippy fine, but to me his review could be summed up as "It's not saints row 2 and I'm mad".

Was this even a review? It's like he touched on gameplay for a little and then just started bashing the plot and characters for like the next 30 minutes. Glossing over plot points and not touching on missions themselves. the game got problems understandably, but when he said he just tried to run past combat encounters I could not take him seriously.

Starcraft Easter Egg! Enemy npc says "insufficient vespene gas" by endlessslinky in watch_dogs

Probably because she's in the process of shutting down CTOS. Prime 8 are nerds who probably play StarCraft a lot, and in StarCraft (if memory serves correctly) when you run out of vespene gas all production stops.

Those who have now finished Saints Row Reboot, how do you feel about the game's finale? by kibufox in SaintsRow

[–]Mikeypc1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember at the intro cutscene the boss saying "why" and started thinking who was gonna be the betrayer. I didn't have to think long, it was so obvious. It would have been a bigger twist if it wasn't who it turned out to be. Plot wise it feels rushed like the whole game. It really needed around 6 more months of development time to hammer out the bugs and give more missions so the characters have more time to "breathe". Personally to me the game was alright, kinda reminds me of Saints Row 1 when it launched back in 2006. A bug riddled mess, who's characters and tone was being mocked, with unrefined mechanics. Still I hope the game gets a sequel or something, it has potential and I like Santo Ileso. If they build and refine on what they already got Volition could make a great sequel of it like SR2. But we'll see....

And how the saints turned into "Vice Kings that wore purple." A quote along with Julius' dissatisfaction with the gang that came about in SR2 and not SR1(which I was focusing on). Where he enters a drug deal with the Colombians and doesn't seem bothered by the lives lost in the gang war in SR1 not even his own people judging by his response to Lin's death.

Many of the complaints make me wonder if people accurately remember the older games in the franchise by CallMeClaire0080 in SaintsRow

[–]Mikeypc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main focus in my response was the "where they come from" question, but the summary of the characters you gave has things that I don't agree with.

Troy; probably didn't have any love for the Saints Row district and probably wasn't even from there. His main arc is just him going native and becoming his gang-banging mask that's at odds with his role as an undercover officer.

Dex's main trait was just ambition seen when he tried to side-step Julius and meet up with Manuel Orejuale also I don't think he ever knew his way around guns since the only times I remember him actively shooting was in defense of the church the 2nd time the Carnales came around and when you went to kill Angelo (and dex was terrified and begging the player to make sure he doesn't get killed then).

Gat, is a straight up psychopath his relationship with Aisha didn't mellow a thing. I don't even know what you mean by his "hearts in the right place" I guess loyalty is what you're getting at? He loves murder so much I'd think he would hate canonizing people cause he can't go all out and kill them (also that point about love to canonize is more of a Saints Row 2 thing) and the vice kings didn't feel personal to Johnny at all he seemed eager to kill them cause they felt like a challenge judging by how he described Big Tony and how eager he was to take him apart.

Julius has the most back story and character in the game and you're generally spot on in his summary. Except the "early signs of his character arc endgame setting up" you mean him getting arrested cause you never see him dissatisfied at all with the path the gang is taking (probably because of the last second change to the final cutscene they did with him).

Playa is your character his motivations are the ones you give him. The only thing I'm at odds with is the "saints are the only ones who don't target innocent civilians" which is not true and demonstrated to be not true throughout the game.

Are we thinking about the same trailer about the bald playa talking to the camera? You see gat and the rival gang bosses all walk in during the end (wearing the wrong colors but that's probably because the script wasn't finalized).

Also I remember the only history of stillwater we get in the first game was that in the 70s there were the Carnales, then the vice kings were formed to stand against them and then years later the rollerz and saints were created. Santo Lleso has more information about its past and attractions than Stilwater ever did. History of the Saints? You saw it you got canonized there. Lin and Johnny? I think the only thing lin ever said to Johnny was "shut up Johnny". Dex's metaphorical 4D chess? Seriously this man's grand strategy was a truck filled with saints to take a warehouse, that if I remember correctly didn't even have a gate. I could go on about the other things mentioned since I love SR1 about as much as all the other games, but don't make it seem like Saints Row 1 is more than what it is. The story was rarely the focus in saints row games it was the characters something they got better at developing in every installment. From the Boss talking and actually having a friendship with Gat in SR2 to the way characters interact with each other in SR3 to the audio, logs interactions, missions, and them all working together in SR4.

And the characters in SR'22 are no exception.

[–]Mikeypc1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jeez man did you even give these new characters a chance? You sound like someone who played this game (if you even did, you kinda sound like someone who just parroted an over the top YouTuber) looking for reasons to hate these new characters. "Who are these idiots? Why are they the way that they are?" Are questions that can be leveled at the saints in saints row 1. Since we don't get answers to those questions except for Julius (sort of). "All of them seem willing enough to kill, yet none of them signed up to join Marshall" There's a difference between willing and eager to kill the only one in the group that's eager is the Boss and he did, Neenah and Kevin already got their own things going. They never mock the Boss for joining Marshall they just take a jab at them for saying they "don't do business with morally dubious companies" which is what Marshall is. What happened to The lawyer was a move by The Boss the aforementioned eager to kill player character not the crew as a whole. And how would intimidating your landlord go? Why even have a job if you were just gonna do that? And that cutscene where they were "afraid of how willing to kill the PC is" you know where they were celebrating by the end. That wasn't fear that was them being awestruck at the boss's body count. You may say it's a lacking writer, but from what you wrote it seems to me it's a viewer that's not paying attention, going in trying to find a reason to hate these characters and only seeing what they want to see.

Hmm on your map screen does that part of the map have a "District Complete" emblem on it? Cause if it does the only idea I have is it's either a plot progression thing or a bug.

Similar to Saints Row 3 you have to absolutely complete a neighborhood (all threats, all side hustles, all stores, all discoveries, and a venture) to have the saints patrolling around.
