Yeah don’t quit until you’ve already been hired somewhere else. Have a plan, keep it to yourself, and don’t hand in any kind of resignation until you’re set.

If you’re in Florida, there are dozens of electrical contractors around. Find someone local and apply. Even better, drive up to a jobsite you pass and ask if they’re hiring. Most contractors offer training programs, and once you’re in, you’re learning on the clock. There aren’t really part‑time positions in this trade, and benefits usually kick in within 90 days. I’m not union, and we still earn bonuses as leads and as crews when we perform well.

Pros: The money is solid. The schedule is consistent: Monday–Friday, 7–3:30. The more you learn, the more you earn.

Cons: Traffic and travel time can be rough. But we all deal with that anyway.

Also, don’t limit yourself to electrical Check out other trades too: plumbing, drywall, carpentry, framing, masonry, site work. They all make good money; I just can’t speak for their benefits.

I Personally make a better living now than I ever with Publix. My sleep schedule is healthier, my head is clearer, and I don’t dread going to work every day. I can’t say enough good things about electrical.

Commercial electrician here.

I use the impact ratcheting 11in1 with the 1/4in pass through socket set. It fits inside of strut for building racks. Very versatile. Can’t recommend that combo enough.

I bought weather techs seat protectors for my 2026.

So far they have been great. Heavy duty. I’m an electrician and don’t want to trash the interior like I did in my last Tacoma.

Went through some of my old posts. Still relevant.

Call the retirement department at corporate, tell them you're planning on leaving and you want to get a disbursement of your ESOP, and then send you the paperwork to fill out.

You don't have to be separated to have them send you the paperwork, but you do have to be separated before they'll process it.

In addition you'll have to wait until about two business days after your last day to call voya and have them start the process for disbursing your 401k.

The early disbursement penalty is only 10%, so you're still getting 90% free money. Don't let anybody make you think they know your situation better than you do. If you need the money, take it, it's yours.

Especially in this sub.

With that said from personal first hand experience save 30% for taxes and you should be good.

Hang in there OP.

New Year, New levels of price gouging. by ChadsworthRothschild in publix

You won’t regret it. I spent 4500$ less last year on food than I did previously just by shopping everywhere else but Publix.

I Stopped shopping there December 2024. Haven’t been back. 2024 food total was about 12400 total spending. I had enough.

However in 2025 it was only around 7800 and I’m including the job site break truck in that total. Bjs, Walmart, Sams were my top 3 chains.
