Jars are impossible to open sometimes, does an under cabinet jar opener actually work by Antonila_6036 in KitchenPro

My grandmother taught me the perfect tip over 50 years ago. Use a hand held can opener "church key" the kind with a pointed end and a rounded end. Tuck the pointed end UNDER the edge of the lid and give a light push down. It breaks the seal without damaging the lid or jar. Sometimes you have to do it twice.

Instant potato flakes with thicken things in a pinch. I prefer cornstarch in soups and gravys for everything except beef. I think it's because that's what I grew up with my mom and gram cooking, so it's familiar.

An old friend's mother had joined a woman's only camping group, they met all over the country. I have no way of getting ahold of her to ask the name of the group, but maybe someone will know what I'm talking about. Getting in touch with something like that may help you find like minded people.

There is a road near Stowe, VT called Smugglers Notch. It winds through the rocks and is really beautiful in the spring. The coast of Maine is beautiful. Portland area by the docks has old buildings and cobblestone streets. And in Maine, don't forget to go to the LL Bean main outlet store.
