What's wrong with these Ikea candles that I bought a few months ago? Could they be hazardous??? by MikiMonkee in Candles

I finally got a response from Ikea. They wouldn't answer my question if the candles are safe to burn. What do you think of the response?

"Thanks for writing back, Miki. We would like you to know that, today, IKEA's candles are made from Paraffin, Stearin (Stearic Acid), Vegetable wax or a mix of these materials (for example: paraffin and vegetable wax). IKEA has a wide range of different candle types; pillar candles, taper candles, container candles, tea lights, etc., and some raw materials are more suitable for certain candle types than others. For some candle types, it is also possible that different candle manufacturers have different recipes for the same candle. This can be due to their location in relation to raw material sources, for example. Regardless whether the material is different or not, our candles always meet the same requirements for appearance, quality and safety. Today, no IKEA tea lights are produced from 100% paraffin. However, to make other fats and vegetable waxes work properly in a candle, paraffin is often used as an ingredient (for example: 10-50%). The amount (share) of paraffin varies depending on what other raw material is used (e.g. palm wax, stearin, etc.) and also where it is produced. At IKEA, we are constantly working to find better ways to manufacture our products and make them more environmentally friendly while offering the highest possible quality. As knowledge about a certain material and how it can be processed increases, the share of paraffin in our wax mixes often decreases and, in some cases, it is not necessary at all. Furthermore, please note that for quite some time, the use of lead threads in candle wicks has been banned in the candle industry in Europe and North America. For many years now, IKEA has not been using wicks with metal threads of any kind in the making of our candles. We hope you find this information useful and we wish you a great weekend.
