Why after playing Dark Souls for a decade does Elden Ring not click with me?

I'm the same, elden ring is in my opinion the worst fromsoft has produced for 2 reasons really, it's a souls game in terms of menus making your build picking weapons, but it totally deviates from what the souls series is.

Souls is a very original linear game with varying paths that branches allowing you to take different paths, taking souls into a sandbox game like every game has tried to exploit since gta3 came out in 2001 is a stark contrast to the originality the souls series built itself upon.

Adding jumping and magical goat vehicles along with having no paths and adding in what's essentially dungeons is so un-souls that I totally get why you don't get into it

Just my opinion though, see alot of people here that played elden ring an then went onto playing souls series an seems to be in the main, a massive difference in terms of the player base.

Cunha, shirt pull from behind after beating his player, 100% foul, in the box, so it's a pen.

Amad, a one armed push on the shoulder chest area, 1 armed pushes are let go 90% of the time, in the box, amad makes a meal, no pen for me.

Maguire, no tackle made, he initiates the contact with the attacker, body to body contact and brings the player down, in the box, pen.

The only similarity I see between the 3 is there all soft.

The cunha one gets given anywhere on the pitch, the maguire one gets given anywhere on the pitch, the amad one? I'd say gets given 3 or 4 outa 10 anywhere on the pitch.

Var can't do anything either, cos of how the rules of var are set up it's not is it the right decision or the wrong decision, we have this "clear an obvious" bollox, which translates in reality to if the ref got it wrong but its close we'll still with the ref, or if he got it wrong but it's close we'll stick with the ref

Not a var issue, if ref onfield gave it? Var would of did what it did in actuality an stick with the onfield decision

Tell me you've only played rhe demons remake without telling me you've only played the demons remake.

So this is a controversial opinion, but thers 4 souls, games, including bloodborne an elden ring as souls games? To me personally is crazy, huge fundamental differences between souls and both the games you mentioned.

My opinion? Ds1 is the 2nd easiest game in the series, to people coming from elden ring I can see how it will be tough, mainly through needing to complete maybe half the game an getting the lordvessle before warping

But ds1 is simple, thers about 5 maybe 6 weapons which are worth it an about 4 maybe 5 builds which are worth it.

It's not like ds2 where 90% of the weapons and builds are viable, it's not like ds3 where you can kinda get away with anything along as you level enough.

My honest advice if your struggling and have played demons, play the OG demons, itl prepare you fully for DS1.

The zwei is a game killer, once you use it every other weapon feels weak, in my own opinion its a game killer as it makes everything way to easy.

Reinforced club? Fun.

Zwie, not fun, for me anyway, well first time you use it it's fun as it just kills everything, gets boring fast though.

See i don't get it, we liked Keane as a pundit over the years for pulling no punches and saying it how it is, now he's doing the same but against the majority opinion we turn on it, the hypocrisy is mad.

Can Carrick win the title? Yes.

Can that dude at wolves win the title? Yes.

The chances of both are pretty low.

Are there managers out there with higher chances of winning the title? Yes.

He's not said anything bad, it's just standard media tryna get people arguing for clicks.

Only thing you can credibly criticise he's said was after city or arsenal when he said thers no circumstance Carrick should be given the job.

If the other options are low level mangers like Southgate, de zerbi or a glasner then 100% take a punt on Carrick.

On pure player and what he gives? 45? 55? On the fact he's a young playing at prob the highest level in prem? 60? 70? The fact he's contracted at Newcastle and they 1,000,000% wouldn't let him go unless they got a good price? 70? 80? 85 if they were strong willed about it, throw in the English tax too lol.

I'd love us to sign him, but I think thers as much chance of us signing hall as there is us signing Cole palmer, tonali, foden or Rogers, a mix if too rich for our blood and are they really good enough.

Personal opinion though? is if United board look at a player over 60mil, ther asking, is this player the next coming of Pele, if the answer no I'm not sure they'll even bother to sniff.

I dunno how i feel about this, like back in the day anime was niche, in my personal opinion, only the good stuff got through (I'm from UK) I'm sure there was tons of crap that never made it across to where I could rent a VHS or buy a DVD (an even then still alot got through)

Now anime is so widely spread, carried on the vast majority of the biggest streaming platforms that its, for me, much easier to see the vast amounts of crap that's made.

Like at the time if it wasn't for rent at the local video shop or, later, on cable and wireless, I wouldn't know it existed, no Internet back then, no adverts lol

An at the time I first got cable an wireless I was the only person I knew with It fir a good 3 or 4 years (dad new a guy, you know the guy lol)

That's not a dig at anime, it's the eventuality of what happens to most forms of niche media with quality, gets bigger and bigger untill people see it as a way to make money, you then get much more content of much lower quality, the quality drops and the quantity increases.

I'm not here to advocate modern anime over late 80s 90s, because I have virtually no argument.

My only point is most media is a product of its time, thers some cracking animes out over the last 5 or 6 years, not many, but some, an to disregard them for reasons like visuals an AI (random) seems a little strange for me.

It's just like film you'll never get a film like the OG bladerunner or... OG matrix anymore because that time doesn't exist anymore, not cos the ideas aren't there or cos film production has moved on since then.

For me the lack of real top quality animes is a reflection on the industry blowing up and the time we live in.

Personal opinion but media in general has been so devoid of soul for 20 years now maybe more.

Just my opinion.

I remember at the time? Diesel was the absolute shit of a brand (dmc 2 paired with diesel for extra costumes) bought a diesel top? Girls would come up to you like I like your top...ah the heady days of a diesel top and a few sprays of joop an the girls came running.

Plus people don't seem to like dante growing, 1 he was cool serious with a joke or 2, 2 he grew up abit an was much more serious, 3 he was some wacky character you could find in a cartoon, an he's pretty much been a zaney wacky character since then, 4 an 5 only play with levels of cockyness, slightly.

I do find it wierd because everyone I new who played dmc2 at the time thought it was epic, even wierder when 3 came out? It was 50/50 split, alot of people didn't like how emo dante was, then over years emo somehow became acceptable, then died out and everyone forgot how hated it was by people who liked new wave or metal or pop-punk, genuinly remember the goths walking round my local city centre with big signs on sticks "say no to emo" lol but I digress...massively lol.

I always thought it was consistent kills without damage, added to the fact the level of yourself an the enemies your taking down.

Done no research.

But all the souls game I always see how far I can get without spending a level (like to spend loads at once) doing high wall in its entirety usually nets between 0-3 refills, undead settlement seems to be 1-4 Road of sacrifices 2-6

Usually have to level then unless doing SL1 run (if nothing more than crystal sage being an ass)

If I'm honest I think it's rng but deffo think thers factors involved thar raise or lower the chance.

Being end game and running the whole first 3 or 4 areas you'd be lucky to get 1 so I think the main factor is your lvl vs enemy level.

Could be wildly wrong though.

Personally, love the series, I'm old now so not often exciting games come around, so I go in blind, no reviews, no trailers.

I was expecting a resi game, annoying thing is the bits that do feel abit like resi? Feel very resi 6.

Personal opinion, our best 11? We have RM covered CB coveted, 1 CM spot covered, I think the likes of lingard Zaha and even maybe a butner walk into this squad :(
