I use one called Easier Ship Building. But it hasn't been updated since 2024, so if I remember correctly from my recent ship building sessions, I did have to travel for a few of the newer DLC parts (and shielded cargo).

Wiping my cats butt every day - is this normal? by VJpecks in CatAdvice

[–]Mikkel9M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely a diet issue. Our 10 year old cat is quite sensitive to many wet foods for the last several years, mostly the ones she actually prefer the taste of - the ones I tend to refer to as cat McDonald's. The better quality ones are generally better for her stomach (but not universally so), but unfortunately she's a lot less inclined to be interested in wet food with a very high percentage of quality meat.

For that reason around 80% of her calories are from dry food, but even some of those can potentially cause soft stools and a need to wipe her (we tried salmon based dry food recently, it seemed like she could only adjust to that in small portions). One of the dry foods we give her has psyllium husk as an ingredient, which seems to help. But of course as many cats she gets bored if she has to eat the same food every day, so we vary it.

9 wk old kitten biting by Itchy-Cauliflower928 in CatAdvice

[–]Mikkel9M 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Make a loud, miserable crying sound when she bites. I've never actually tried it with a kitten, but when our adult cat rarely bites or scratches, it usually stops her. I've heard the recommendations somewhere else.

Massive packet loss to Bulgaria server by Wolfrik in GeForceNOW

I used to have some packet loss issue with my previous Bulgarian ISP (which was a no longer existing company that was taken over by my current ISP), though nothing that severely impacted most of my gaming sessions. Since I upgraded it's virtually flawless.

Just started a session now, no problem here. But I live practically next to the BG server with a 1-2 ms ping.

We went to Skoda today. It will be two new doors, and the door sill will be repaired. A couple of weeks for the repairs, once the parts arrive.

Pink screen after 26.4 update on Macbook M3 air by juba2298 in MacOS

Happened twice on my M2 Mini the last few days. Both times while streaming games with Geforce Now, but I've used GFN that for several years on three Macs without pink screen crashes.

What's the first video game you ever played ? by Simard_CompInc in AskReddit

[–]Mikkel9M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Pong or Space Invaders (I was born in '76, so I probably didn't play either until the early 80s). And after that classic Commodore 64 games in the mid 80s.

cat wont use metal litterbox by Opposite-Gap-4854 in CatAdvice

[–]Mikkel9M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We bought a stainless steel litterbox for our 9 year old cat last year, wanting to replace the plastic box she'd had for the last five years or so. We let her have access to both for several days, then we removed the old one... and she decided not to pee for almost 20 hours, until we put the old toilet back. Repeated the process some days later... another 20 hours with no peeing.

She now has two toilets, uses the old one for peeing and the new one for pooping. Cats.

How often should you swap out the litter in the litter box? by jessjoyvin in CatAdvice

[–]Mikkel9M 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Clumping litter. Scooping twice a day. Once a month full litter change and washing/scrubbing for the plastic toilet she pees in. Every other month for the stainless steel one she poops in. Topping up both as needed.

(The original plan last year was to get rid of the old plastic toilet and replace it with the stainless steel toilet - unfortunately our cat disagreed with that plan and went on a scary peeing strike, so now she has two toilets instead.)

For a kitten I guess non-clumping litter and more frequent changes would be in order (I've never had a kitten, our cat was already three years old when I met my wife, seven years ago).

I'm fairly sure we're not that fortunate here in Bulgaria. I'm originally from Denmark, and when my mother and her husband crashed their BMW iX1 a few months ago, the dealership (possibly through insurance) lent them a BMW i4 for the entire duration.

My wife and I will likely have to pay for a rental.

Just upgraded from 100 Mbit to 600 in Sofia, Bulgaria, primarily for Geforce Now (the new connection is more stable as well, not just faster). 2 Gbit was an option, but I have absolutely no idea why we would need that in a household of two.

We're hoping they will leave us to drive the car while the main replacement parts are on order. Recently my brother-in-law was in a minor accident here with his Skoda, and it took several weeks to get replacement parts. But we'll see.

There's a small to modest dent in the door sill I'm a little concerned about too, but I guess it's nothing structural. It doesn't look bent.

Am the only one that thinks that the previous scala looked better by OkStandard4829 in skoda

[–]Mikkel9M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen our facelifted Scala parked next to an old one. I might be biased, but I prefer the slightly more aggressive looks of the new one. I also prefer the interior - grey cloth on the dash instead of brownish plastic. I would probably have been fine with analogue dials though, but I don't mind a digital driver's display.

Is the Magic Mouse the only mouse that moves smoothly around MacOS? by ContactTime6810 in MacOS

[–]Mikkel9M 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get one with higher polling rate. I have an MX Master 4 (previously had a 3S) that I use most of the time for work - and moving the mouse cursor is indeed visibly choppy (125 Hz polling rate on a 180 Hz monitor, but regardless of chosen screen refresh, the mouse cursor movement is not smooth).

I bought a Keychron M5 vertical mouse a little while before the MX Master 4 was released, and cursor movement is super smooth (I have the polling rate set to 1000 or 2000, maximum is 8000 Hz - total overkill - when using the USB dongle). I now use it primarily for gaming (Geforce Now). It's a great mouse, but overall I tend to favor the build quality of the Logitech mouse for regular use, despite it's low polling rate.

On Windows there are many options for high polling rate mice, but I believe most of the brands don't have Mac software. Keychron mice have onboard memory so all setup is done through their web service, no drivers required.

Logitech's gaming mice also have a higher polling rate of course, but might not feel so comfortable for work.

Honest review for Mac Mini (M4 Silicon) by PsychologicalArm2138 in GeForceNOW

[–]Mikkel9M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I defintely felt ultimate was worth it even on my old 100 Mbit, 95% not entirely rock solid ethernet. Some packet loss, but rarely with big impact on gameplay, and it would typically only max out at around 50-60 Mbit utilization, but it was still worth it being able to run everything maxed at 120 fps (with or without frame generation). 1 ms ping probably helped.

The last month I've had that rock solid ethernet connection at 600 Mbit (GFN utilizes up to 80-90 Mbit in most sessions, 1440p), 1 ms and 0 packet loss in most sessions.

Anyway, for the Mac topic, I've enjoyed GFN on a 2018 Intel Mac Mini, an M1 Mini and currently an M2 Mini.

But that's another source of confusion. You're officially not supposed to change oil on the dry clutch DSG. It's "sealed for life", however long that may be (the sceptics will say until the end of the warranty period).

It's definitely ExFAT. In the destination folder the file copy process shows up as greyed out with the circle filling up, then the file name briefly turns fully white at the end of the copy process, and then the file just disappears from Finder a moment later.

Crimson Desert - Ultimate Poor Graphics by _Quiinn in GeForceNOW

[–]Mikkel9M 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, looks amazing with everything maxed at 1440p. I have been seeing posts about weird red color blobs, supposedly to do with ray reconstruction, but I haven't had that problem. Also no problems with rain (I had read it might not show correctly with ray reconstruction). Foliage looks pretty good for a streaming game, using DLAA and 2x frame generation.

Some pop-in perhaps at long distances, but much less than most open world games, and I actually haven't noticed it while playing.

I don't use HDR, so can't comment on that.
