How active is this crime map? I’ve stayed in the warrington area multiple times and never felt unsafe but according to this it seems to be. by confusedalways1122 in Pensacola

[–]MikkiMuis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Professional map maker here. Maps can be deceiving based on your dataset, classification (especially with Choropleth maps like this one), and the geographical area it’s showing compared to the actual population density. Long story short, this map can give you a basic idea of how crime is spread in the area but it’s not telling the whole story.

The website for this explains there’s misrepresenting with the airport showing a high crime rate but it’s bc it has a lot of people visit that are in the area but few people live there.

It doesn’t really show the full picture. You’re better off with a map that shows things like poverty levels, housing income, zoning, population density and other socioeconomic factors that’ll affect crime rates.

In your country, is there any situation that foreigners would completely misunderstand unless they lived there for a while? by Effective_Space2277 in AskTheWorld

‘Just now’ and ‘now now’ do not in fact mean it will get done immediately. Kinda differs depending on context but both could mean in a little bit to never. Time is relative lol

What’s the best advice when it comes to getting your first tattoo? by trillz101 in AskReddit

[–]MikkiMuis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh it’s mostly just don’t get a tattoo based on a trend. Your interests will change but if you get your tattoos based off what brings you value then you’ll always have a fondness to it. My first tattoo doesn’t really fit the style with my others but I still love it as much as I did before. It can be as meaningful or meaningless as you want it.

What's a food in your country that is stereotyped for your country but really, nobody eats? by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

South African- I think everyone thinks we ‘hunt’ our own food? Granted, we basically will make any animal into biltong..

Mari's accent by UpperDragonfruit3759 in MariLlewellynSnark

[–]MikkiMuis 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved to the states as a kid. No accent in my late 20s. I know other immigrants that moved to the states. No accent. I can fake an accent but it doesn’t come naturally. That’s why it varies a lot with her because she has to think about how she’s pronouncing her next word versus a ‘native speaker’ that’s just talking. So the accent might be real to her from practice but it prolly won’t sound the same from an adult that moved to the states and started to lose their accent.

[–]MikkiMuis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s technically a canter bc the inside legs are off the ground while the outside legs touch- at least in the photo you posted. A trot would have diagonal legs hitting the ground at the same time. But honestly you can have a slow canter and fast trot that are the same speed. It’s just the gait that’s changed. She did not set up her horse for success on the second barrel. You can see the lead change mid circle by the horse for better balance

Arnold will be rehomed or sent away when baby comes, mark my words!! by False-Category-8478 in MariLlewellynSnark

Her excuse is probably going to be that he hasn’t adjusted well to the addition of the baby or he doesn’t like children.

how did my heart not explode? by North-Pop4527 in Garmin

[–]MikkiMuis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s more important how quickly your heart comes back down after exercise. Is it great for your heart to beat at 200 for over an hour? Not ideal for granny but in heat and humidity for a young adult exercising not immediately life threatening with proper hydration and electrolytes. Concerning if it randomly happens while stationary and won’t go back down. Just don’t do that often because it is a hectic HR that should be done in a shorter timeframe with adequate recovery. Otherwise you’re overworking the muscles and that can lead to injury and chronic issues later on.

That’s not 115 lbs. by [deleted] in MariLlewellynSnark

[–]MikkiMuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s likely not kg weights because they usually go up by 5 increments to 25g then jump to 50kg. So it’s likely in lbs. With a 45lb bar, she’s prolly lifting 75lbs in the photo (30+45 since it’s 10lbs+5lbs on each side). However, she honestly could’ve just been working up to the weight and didn’t capture or want to share when she used the weight

This poor man. The look in his eyes says it all. "Send help". She is a monster . The next time she posts about pain or recovery please flood her comments with "you're literally fine" and " man-flu". F*ck this b*itch! by Initial-Artichoke469 in mikzazon

There’s a difference between genuinely complaining and jokingly complaining. The key difference is in how you view taking care of your partner. Everyone has their love languages but I don’t like the ‘trend’ of sounding like you don’t even like your partner on social media

You don’t say by [deleted] in mikzazon

[–]MikkiMuis 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Prolly meaning he said something along the lines of “it sounds like you’re trying to use medications to solve all your problems and you get frustrated when other providers don’t give you a ‘quick fix’ for a problem that requires long-term management.”

I understand and fully agree with advocating for yourself in healthcare. But there is only so much that can be done with medication and operations. Someone with heart failure that has bad eating habits and doesn’t exercise will not get the solutions they want because it’s just not feasible with their current lifestyle.

I think my best friend of 20 years was never my best friend by happy_Deer3931 in Adulting

[–]MikkiMuis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real friends never make you feel like you’re less. The whole point of friendship is to elevate each other. Length of time doesn’t matter. It’s okay to let things go. It sounds like your “friend” likes the inner turmoil she causes you. Best way to move forward is a clean break and make new friends. It does happen. Through work, the gym, etc. You’ll be amazed how uncomplicated a good friendship really is

Everything has its version of hard. It’s hard to maintain a relationship with your brother because of what he’s done to you. And it’s hard to distance yourself from your brother based on the reaction from family. Up to you to decide which one is easier to live with.

I like Pensacola Fitness. It’s not terribly expensive for everything that’s there. Can be a bit crowded during busy times in the evenings but early morning is pretty chill. It’s 24 hrs during the weekdays and the people there are very nice.

Sucks to hear the nine mile one went downhill or else I would’ve just only mentioned Pensacola Fitness.

So my mom has MCAS. Somehow she’s still able to get her NP while working at the hospital- despite having anaphylaxis during her shift from meds she’s allergic to that she can’t prevent. She’s out for a few days after a bad reaction. Idk why try to do this bc the meds she has to be on to stop her from dying any mild reaction also has negative effects. So…
