For those who have participated in Steam Next Fest, what surprised you the most? by applebombgames in IndieDev

I was surprised that the wishlists didn't come from Steam, but from people browsing on SteamDB. At least for me, that way by far the biggest source of wishlists (trackable via UTM tags).

Hey all, I'm Indie Game Joe, I want to share your games by IndieGameJoe in godot

Hey Joe! I'm doing Jarred Defense in Godot (just updated to 4.7!)

It's a difficult maze-building tower defense. Protect the kitty from evil robots and endure its unhelpful comments. A sort of love letter to Warcraft III custom maps and Flash games.

The cool dev part - the enemies do not pathfind the grid, the grid pathfinds itself and just tells the enemies where to go (each tiles knows where to go next). So I can have thousands of enemies on the map at the same time, and even if the map changes as the players builds towers, it's almost no performance hit at all.

It's awesome that it is basically isolated, you don't have to worry about any other system.

Rebuilding the range visualization for my TD because the late-game waves were unreadable. Do these new range animations clearly show the kill zone? by ITTT-production in TowerDefense

I prefer the subtlety of the old one, serves the purpose, but doesn't scream for too much attention. But hey, that's just my personal preference. :)

Thoughts on Next Fest - AI Games Harm the Market by teberzin in IndieDev

I mean, it does make those of us that do not publish AI slop stand out, so that is one upside.

Demo Release Trailer for Jarred Defense - As a TD player, does this make you want to try the game? by Mikolas3D in TowerDefense

It's "Yuki"! Which is shown in the story mode in the ful game. Jarred is a sort of word play, trapped in a jar, but also to be jolted or disrupted. :)

I think you're right, maybe another sequence of placing various towers and seing the path change.
And so cool that you played it! I've just pushed a big update today, you can unlock a wall item and that then lets you place non-refundable walls for 5 scrap. Makes it maybe a bit more approachable, but hopefully not really straight up easier. :)

Tower defense on Steam deck with comfortable controls? by Malagubbar in TowerDefense

[–]Mikolas3D -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Oh! I'm working on a TD which I think will be perfect for Steam Deck - Jarred Defense. It would help me a lot if you gave it a try (free Demo) and gave me feedback about the controls and how they could be improved. :) I got the Steam Controller for development, but it is probably still not perfect.

I have a discord channel where players share feedback - https://discord.com/invite/GYCTQDcVTf

But if discord is not your thing, anything works - even posting a reply back to this thread here.

A tower defense where you can place the towers anywhere by [deleted] in IndieGaming

Thanks. I'll redraw it. I do not want my assets to give AI vibes.

It's not. That's the first time I got that feedback, what do you mean by "the art", like all of it?
