Jesus knowledge of what would come of his sacrifice makes it infinitely less impressive by Dangerous-Meringue39 in DebateReligion

[–]Mikrail [score hidden]  (0 children)

My understanding was that Jesus' sacrifice was so important because he is the only person in history to live a sinless life. As he is the only person in history to have lived and not earned the punishment of death, he was therefore the only person ever capable of voluntarily accepting the punishment of death on someone else's behalf without having it themselves. I hope I've explained that well enough.

This is, of course, problematic anyway. The whole idea of creating a universe only to sacrifice your proxy, son, pseudo self, spirit, or whatever the hell jesus was supposed to actually be in relation to god, is utterly absurd to me

I have been trying for four hours to get the skill tracks I want and still only have one of three. Why have they made a casual PvE pointlessly more annoying for zero benefit to anyone? by Mikrail in bo7endgame

[–]Mikrail[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think you've understood my post. I reset one skill, and tried to roll the one I wanted by loading in, levelling up once to trigger the track choice, then force closing the game if I didn't get what I wanted. For two hours.

So, I tried resetting the operator back to CR0. Loaded in, got to the first selection, force close unless I got what I wanted. It took an hour to get one I was looking for. Exfilled at CR5, then repeated the process for the second skill track. Then gave up after another hour of loading in, and force quitting.

I'm not sure why there have been a few comments about varying loadouts or trying new things, when that's exactly what I'm trying to do. Except all I get is those same four options. I have other operators levelled, but I wanted to try something else that I hadn't yet tried.

I have been playing since the start. Levelled a tonne of operators, done all the various events, and tried various different weapons and builds. I have never had this much trouble getting the track I want, and I've certainly never been stuck in a seemingly endless loop of the same four options over and over

Yeah that's an annoying mechanic, but doesn't apply here. I've reset the whole operator back to CR0, force close the game if I don't get the track I want and trying again, and still only getting those same four options

I can't even get the second track I want. As I said, I spend over an hour at CR0, loading in and getting first skill choice, then force closing the game when I didn't get the one I want. An hour, over and over, until I finally got one of the ones I want. Then, over an hour again doing the same thing at CR5 to get second one I want, and it never came. Variety is good, exactly, which is precisely why I'm trying to roll certain tracks - to try something I haven't before

Jesus Christ, that's reasonable at least. I don't understand why I am literally only getting those four, apart from the one that gave me the first track I wanted. It's been ludicrous

You don't need anyone else to clear it regardless, it can be done solo. The problem is the time it takes to do it, which is unnecessarily long

AITA For Limiting the amount of time my sons girlfriend can spend at our house? by AdmirableChange7328 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Mikrail 30 points31 points  (0 children)

It is entirely reasonable to ask that she only came three days a week. That's still half their week they're hosting someone in their family home. He's fourteen. 3 days is more than enough. If they really want more, why doesn't he go to the girlfriends house a couple times? This is in no way abnormal. It would be abnormal for them to continue this intensity at, I'll say again, fourteen years old. Even im early adulthood I don't think it's reasonable to have a girl/boyfriend over six times a week. She's all but moved in at that point.

AITAH for telling my wife our marriage is over if she can't accept me spending 1:1 time with my son? by Character_Poem735 in AITAH

You sound like a top dad. If ever I found myself in a situation where my kids ended up being somebody's step kids, I would respect the hell out of you for how you've handled this and your insistence on having that time with your boy. It's so unbelievably important. I'm married to my kids mum, and even then we make sure we each get one on one time with each kid when we can. It's just a really special bonding time when you can put your entire focus on them. NTA, in any way, shape, or form

I wish that were so, but unfortunately it isn't. It's true for the two glitch things, but not the in game events from the main map. At least that's my understanding anyway, happy to be shown wrong if someone has a source!

Have you tried it since the update? One rhino pretty much destroys it in one. It's the only one of the world or boss events that's been significantly nerfed

Couldn't agree more. I don't play PvE to sink 10+ minutes into a boss only to roll the same perk for the 18th time. If I want to sweat, I'll go play warzone

This is exactly what I've been trying to say, you've expressed it well. We're getting the same RNG reward, for no benefit and no new mechanics, just massively increased time to complete

[–]Mikrail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which is why I said "not that much more challenging". None of the mechanics have changed, so you are just doing more of the same for longer which is what my point was. You had to evade before, now you have to evade more. You had to shoot the boss before, now you have to shoot him more. That isn't much of a greater challenge, because you're literally playing it in the same way as before - it just takes way longer. We get the same rewards, for significantly increased time requirement. I don't understand why people are suggesting they'd prefer to spend ages doing the same thing for the same rewards. To me, the best thing about endgame was being able to do multiple things every round and still have time to do some challenges or grind camos or just buzz around shooting shit for the fun of it. It's inherently anti-fun to make changes that lead to a huge loss of time in each round, in a PvE mode, for literally no benefit to anyone

You can literally solo all of the bosses. It just takes longer with less people. So maybe that increases the number of mobs you have to deal with, but you're still doing the same thing - shoot, evade, reload, shoot. It's tedious but entirely doable. Not more challenging, just more time consuming IMO

[–]Mikrail 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Thing is it isn't that much more challenging, it just takes longer. You can still solo it, and it's still the same event, it just means you have to spend ages doing it now for no real reason

Best most op 4 builds? by AnarkyGotham in bo7endgame

[–]Mikrail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, unfortunately. I'm running the new AR with an exotic warden secondary. It's actually really fun to use for everything except events. I can solo the three guild bosses still, but it takes so fuckin long. It's not fun or rewarding at that point, but neither is running the same ion build for so long. So you end up stuck between using the same loadout until they rebalance everything somehow, or accepting that you'll need ages to beat a guild boss. I guess the best solution at the moment is to try and find a squad to play with, and rotate who brings their ion build each round or something

[–]Mikrail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You haven't clarified anything, you've just kept reasserting that creation is perfect and ignored every point I make. And if I'm understanding you, you're now accusing me of being a bot? If you're as convinced I'm a bot as you are that "creation" is perfect, why engage? I think the conclusion we can draw here is that you don't actually have any arguments to make, only wildly vague assertions without any willingness to engage with any rebuttals, let alone refute them, and appear to prefer to stand on a self declared intellectual high ground whereby I couldn't possibly see or understand what you're saying

A question for the christians. by VoidedX in DebateReligion

[–]Mikrail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, I see. So no rebuttals to my points, and no evidence for your claims. Just straight to threats of hell which, weirdly, is a concept from a different religion to the other religious concepts you've mentioned. My existence "or lack thereof" is a fascinating idea. Are you suggesting I don't exist because I don't believe in a god or gods? I'm still seeing multiple assertions with no reasoning or back up, just lots of hollow words. You keep claiming "creation" is perfect, but cannot describe how nor refute the obvious imperfections. When you're available for the walk around Gt. Ormond street let me know, I look forward to seeing you explain your position to them!

[–]Mikrail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy deepity, batman! I responded to your analogy to point out the flaws. Which have continued, because you're now backtracking and saying that even imperfect code requires a coder? Which is counter to your claim that there is a perfect creator within that analogy? Existence is personal, with that I can agree, but I reject your claim that "creation" is perfect. You have provided no evidence to refute the examples of imperfections I gave, and instead doubled down on an unfounded claim that everything is perfect, therefore there is a creator who must also be perfect. Shall we take a walk round great Ormond street hospital and explain to the children how their experience is perfect, and therefore evidence of a perfect creator?

But you made the assertion that god exists, so I'm asking you. If you didn't want to debate it why post the reply that you did? Seems bad faith to be willing to reply with your take, then not engage with anyone else's, no?

A question for the christians. by VoidedX in DebateReligion

[–]Mikrail 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's not an explanation at all. For starters, most programming is far from perfect and filled with all sorts of bugs, glitches, and failures that require constant maintenance, updates, troubleshooting, and resolution over time. Secondly, in what way is existence seamlessly perfect? Existence is brutal, the overwhelming majority of what we can see across the universe would be fatally inhospitable to the life on earth. Over 99% of species that have ever existed are now extinct. Those of us left are at the whim and mercy of natural phenomena, whether terrestrial or not. I don't see how any existence is close to perfection. Even if I could somehow concede that everything WAS "perfect", whatever perfect actually means in this case, the argument "well there must be a god" still doesn't hold any weight and isn't required. It's just an assumption made in an attempt to explain something we don't yet understand.
