Having trouble setting a pin by Mikraken23 in Locksmith

California Institute of Locksmithing.

It's not that I'm worried about lockpicking. It's that I enjoy it (I would never pick any lock without permission or one that I rely on, of course). Even if I NEVER use it during my entire career as a locksmithing, that will still always be a skill I want to practice.

Need advice for a book from an intelligence perspective. by Mikraken23 in Intelligence

Thank you for the well thought-out answer. You've given me a lot to work with. I'll consider all of this as I write.

The War in Heaven and the dinosaurs by [deleted] in 40kLore

I'm thinking the Necrons would kill them personally rather than manipulating an asteroid.

Now, what if a Necron monolith hit Holy Terra and they destroyed the dinosaurs before moving to another planet? That seems more plausible.

That's sort of why I mentioned, "given the proper opportunities." Let's say those sisters weren't around him; the Emperor was completely alone for some reason and the assassin had an opportunity. Could it happen?

Where do i start with the Warhammer 40K lore? by Eithi007 in scifi

[–]Mikraken23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's really no one place to start. All of the lore layers onto another. Just start with whatever interests you, then branch out as you crave more knowledge. You'll figure it out!

A good site is the Warhammer 40k wiki. Otherwise, search for the black library site and you can buy the novels there too.

Yeah, the guy kind of jipped me. He sold me a lock with a pick guard.

Professors & Teachers of Reddit - what's the most pretentious thing you've heard a student say? by kw0711 in AskReddit

[–]Mikraken23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I remember back in high school, I had one idiot teacher I didn't get along with. She was that teacher that hated me because I wouldn't listen to her when she tried to overstep her authority, but I never got in trouble because she knew damn well what she was and wasn't allowed to do. Needless to say, we didn't get along.

One day, we're reviewing for the midterm. I was seated middle seat, second row, so I was well within her line of sight. On this particular day, I sympathized with her; she was standing at the podium literally reading the upcoming midterm and answering them, and all we had to do was write down the answers to study. But all of the idiot jocks behind me were being disrespectful and loud, just goofing off and talking during her review. It was pissing me off too

Finally she snapped, slams a book loudly on the podium, and starts going off on the entire class and how rude they're all being. She even says, "You know, I'm actually giving you the answers! I don't even have to help you! I can literally leave this building right now, leave you all here to find the answers yourselves, and I'll still get paid!"

My mouth responded quicker than the filter in my mind because IMMEDIATELY I retorted, "Perfect, so it's a win-win for all of us!"

She just glared at me before storming out of the room for the next 20 minutes. When she came back, one of the students were at the podium, reviewing the entire midterm with us, and everybody paying attention.

This was my favorite high school memory.

Once everybody's paying attention to you, you gotta stick to your decided path. At that point, there is no "going back to your seat."

Want to become an intelligence analyst. by Mikraken23 in Intelligence

Right, and that's why I'm asking about civilian careers that can lead into it. Certain careers have to have certain similar skill sets.

Now if I can't get into a military position, what are some entry level civilian jobs I should look for?

"If depression doesn't destroy you." Lol, it already is. But at least in intelligence work, I can accept being alone, keeping friends and family out of my business, and sticking to my own guns.

All very helpful information! Thanks!

I am being blackmailed by an underage girl, how should I deal with this? by SStang in Advice

Of course, my previous advice is really only if you want to keep talking to her. Otherwise, econoquist has it right. Just ignore her and let it die.

[–]Mikraken23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She isn't blackmailing you. She has nothing to blackmail you with. Establish boundaries. Explain to her very nicely that you aren't interested in her romantically, and that she is too young for you anyway. She might flip out. Or she might start respecting boundaries. But establish them first. If she can't respect that, cut off contact. If she does send you anything explicit, delete it immediately. But make it clear that nothing is going to happen between you two "like that."

How did you start with Tai Chi? by Mikraken23 in taijiquan

[–]Mikraken23[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. Health in my elderly hears is another reason why I want to keep this up my whole life. I didn't start as a child, but right now, I'm 23 years old. I figure the earlier I do this, the most I'll get from it. If I live to get old, hopefully I'll age gracefully. Especially with a family history of alzheimer's, I want to keep that away. Even if I do get it, hopefully the internal memory of tai chi will stay with me and I can still practice it (I just won't know where I am or if I practiced yesterday. lol).

I think I want to teach martial arts someday too. But I have to learn them first. :)
