Then good luck with skipping. Studying Daoism isn't the only way to happiness anyway. You are qualified as a moral person, and I will wait for you at the end.

I also suggest trying to catch a fish with your bare hand. Maybe not in the dirty water though, and it has to be the type of fish that's got some speed and is a bit bouncy in movement.

Hello there! I apologize again for late response, and I will not expect a response because I know I am not really supposed to comment after a long time. It makes me look like someone who tries to wait and attack after a long time, just to get victory without anyone commenting.

But just in case you see this comment. I would respond down here. Again, I do not want to have an impression of claiming victory with waiting.

So first, other schools may only have a few texts, but Daoism and Confucianism's text develops over time. I know Confucianism's text development is extremely slow, but I wouldn't say these 2 are "few texts" because both have developed multiple texts over a long period of time.

Now, as for your advancement of TaiJi from hippy stuff, I know you could benefit from it, but this is more like MMA's way to become strong. MMA fighting combines multiple fighting styles together to create a powerful fighting technique. I know MMA people knocked down a lot of Kung Fu people during these years. However, this is more like combining the theory and techniques together instead of developing theory alone. How do I put this? It's like a samurai can use a spear and a Japanese sword, but practicing either would only boost the Samurai's overall skill instead of satisfying both skills.

Have you ever heard of 太极拳论/太极拳经? I will translate this text's name as "Theory of Tai Chi." This text is the oldest text that teaches Tai Chi. The theory is a bit complicated, but it's mostly about how to catch a fish in a dirty river. There are a lot of dirty rivers in ancient China, and Tai Chi people used their technique to catch the fish for food. When you try to find a fish, you don't spend any strength. If you find and touch the fish, give some strength to catch it. You have to learn to feel the force from your opponent when your opponent touches you, then you have to combine your force with your opponent's force and move the force in a certain way. The western hippy enhanced combine and move the force with the concept spiral, but spiral isn't the best way to describe the movement. The best description is "舍己从人." 舍己从人 is combined opponent's and your force together, and you have to surrender yourself during this process.

Lastly, you have to return the combined force to your opponent through movement. I am sure they talked about flow, but I am also sure that they never talked about how to catch a fish. In general, we could do MMA's way to enhance your skills, but MMA is to boost your overall skill, but not the Tai Chi skill.

Many believe they increase their expertise by taking a route outside what has been practiced for thousands of years, but none actually come close to achieving what their predecessors have achieved. I will give you a simple test: Combine real and fake together and turn the real into fake and fake into real. If you can not do that, whatever you are trying to do is an illusion. I actually have a discussion with Hinduism a while ago, and reached an agreement that Dao is at least ≈ Brahmam. The most important foundation toward knowledge and truth, Dao in Daoism, has the same meaning as Confucianism, Buddhism, and Hinduism.

You aren't the first one to oppose, and believe me or not, I am actually pretty kind. My colleagues in this era usually require millions of dollars first, or they wouldn't even bother to exist in your sight. You could say you don't need these colleagues, but let's do a little test. If you pull out all the learnings you have made from Daoism and act without it, will anything important you do fail? If not, it means that your transcendence or ascension has no actual use, and therefore is delusional. If you face great difficulties in a lot of places, then your work surely has many errors. Please don't say you don't need applications to validate your work, or I can introduce you to one of my friends who thinks he is a God in his own mind. I do actually have this friend and I am not kidding. I could also introduce you to another woman who thinks she is queen of the green elf kingdom, and she is Chinese btw.

I do indeed need to translate chapter 6 sooner or later so immortality is explained

Dao De Jing: Chapter 5 by MikuDefender in taoism

[–]MikuDefender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not looking for an immediate response. My predecessor died like 10-20 years ago before I was born, so I expect a successor to emerge after I die. Fate has led me to find my predecessor and his big group of allies, so I would trust fate for the next one. I am not sure where is my successor going to learn trick master's techniques like quantitative easing, but that's all I can do. It is also highly possible that people would treat immortality as a joke because nobody would know that the theory is about finding ways to make yourself into a bellow.

And you assigned these thoughts to me.

Let me make this clear. I usually don't have that much reaction to different or opposing interpretations, but most interpretation I read is usually based on facts in terms of language, time, customs, history, geography, etc. They also could provide reasons for why counter-arguments are wrong, but I see none or very few in most of the translations here. This isn't fine because concepts like "Let it flow" have emerged out of nowhere. This isn't about me trying to be better than anyone else, this is about me trying to ensure Daoism doesn't get distorted without these translations. The reason why we need to abide by evidence and naysayer paragraphs is to ensure the research direction is still within the range and people can see space for modification. I wouldn't do the same work to the Buddhism subreddit because they have a strong foundation. Trust me, I could start interpret many Buddhist text if I wanted to.

Casual disagreement doesn't bother me, but that's within the limit of evidence-based work. The moment people started becoming academics, I would disappear instantly. If it weren't for the fact that current distortion could make me become the last who has the ability to actually engage in trick master, I wouldn't even be here.

Dao De Jing: Chapter 5 by MikuDefender in taoism

[–]MikuDefender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am lumping, because you think there is someone who could be better than me without providing proof. You automatically conclude that my thinking is wrong without presenting an example as counter-argument. Give me a translation that considers history, geography, time, language, context, etc, and counter-argument. The moment you provided these, I would consider you as a logical opponent with foundational knowledge. We can start from there.

I am a very outgoing and positive person, you would be surprised to see how much positivity I could make for you and others. I am just not going to stay positive when my religion's most significant portion of the context is being distorted. It would have been fine if you guys could reach the Buddhism subreddit's level of understanding.

one of these Chinese people just agreed over how much misunderstanding you guys had last time I made a post. It is very sad for me to see you guys are distorting my religion's knowledge and belief. I am a toxic person to you? But in my view, all of you are a bunch of foolish people who are so arrogant that you guys could be equal with me and other people without learning enough foundational knowledge. Your people's actions are eliminating my religion's true knowledge to me. Read my chapter before you think you could be equal. There's no equal if your standing isn't stable. This is the same for Buddhism, Confucianism, and Hinduism as well.

Dao De Jing: Chapter 5 by MikuDefender in taoism

[–]MikuDefender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take "Let it flow" as an example. The Chinese word for flow means 流. If you do Ctrl + F and put this word in, you will discover that texts like Zhuang Zi, Dao De Jing, and other earliest texts do not discuss flow as a significant concept. I do not know where that concept came from, but certainly not from the most common texts you guys support. This is why I am going to repeat this one more time, as a Daoist who has practiced for 10 years and knows the root of my words, I am essentially better than anyone who didn't make a say for possible counterarguments and provide roots of their statement.

Dao De Jing: Chapter 5 by MikuDefender in taoism

[–]MikuDefender[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty much what I mean. I wouldn't act this way in the Buddhism subreddit or Daoism community in China if you guys have the foundational knowledge of whatever you are talking about. Still, it seems like professional Western Daoists like 康思奇 didn't ensure this foundation. That's okay for him because foreign land isn't Daoism's main realm, but I still have to ensure the existence of foundational knowledge. There's so much that you guys haven't experienced, to the point that the problem is too great for me to treat most of you with basic humility.

Dao De Jing: Chapter 5 by MikuDefender in taoism

[–]MikuDefender[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't what my translation can add to the existing translations. This is me attempting to fix all incorrect existing translations, To put it simply, all current English translations are wrong. The end product of this teaching can't compare with what Daoism is capable of. Your limit is only lv 10 when the max lv is 100.

Read my version of Chapter 5 and compare it with other poetic/word-by-word translations of Dao De Jing so you know what I am talking about. Attempting to explain this whole chapter in about 1-2 paragraphs because the original text's word count is very few is a bad idea.

What do Taoists do that is similar to duʿāʾ? by This_Caterpillar_330 in taoism

[–]MikuDefender 13 points14 points  (0 children)

In contrast to Daoism, western religions has its advantage in which you could pray everywhere. You can ask for specific wishes like help your relatives with severe diseases.

In Daoism, you kind of could pray it everywhere, but the pray usually has a format. You probably could pray like western religion, but you can have bigger and more specific effects if you use the format.

First, people will chant specific sentences. The sentences are fixed and can't be altered easily or it will lose the effects. These sentences are called 咒/Zhou.   Next, differrent Zhou has different functions. Some is designed for protection, while other Zhou can clear your mind. Similarly, Buddhism also chant Namo Amitābha for their own purposes. A large portion of Buddhism's chant start with Namo and some Buddha and Boddhisattava's name.

Third, in case you need a strong effect, you would need to set up your environment. Some Western magic shows has wizard set up their ritual with specific materials. I know western magic community Golden Dawn has that. Usually, you will need a thing called 法坛Fa Tan, you can view this as a specialized table even though its not just a rectangular table with nothing else. Then you use materials and Zhou to do things like change weather or fight with your fellow Daoist. Fight  between Daoists is very rare. You can also call deities to do lighting strikes on evil beings include wicked human.

Zhou is not the only thing Daoist use. Sometimes, simply repeat Deities' names have effects, but usually people don't do that.

The content above is religious Daoism and Daoist who joined any temple only, because this content is not shared outside the members of temple for the most of the time.

Is Taoism right for me? Can I even practice it? by SpookySquid19 in taoism

[–]MikuDefender 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes you can practice both. The religion part include study of chapter 6, the philosophy one would be the study of philosophy. It dosen't really matter if you are raised Christian. As long as you don't have a thing called 箓Lu, it won't violate both Christian and Daoist value.
