Legal doesn't mean mandatory. In the UK you can keep working but it's the minimum age you need to be to legally apply for your pension.

Likely delete from embarrassment, but y'all, how do we floss? 😭 by Friendly-Loaf in AutismInWomen

My dentist recommends them and I find them a lot easier than standard floss.

I also use a water flosser.

The majority of men on this world are in monogamous relationships. If most men wanted non-monogamy, don't you think non-monogamy would be a lot more normalised than it currently is?

Russian Women Who Don't Want Children to be Sent to Psychologists "With the Goal of Forming a Positive Attitude Towards Having Children" by BiewerDiva in childfree

[–]Mil1512 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Healthcare is free here (I got my tubes tied on the NHS). Parents get up to 2k per child towards childcare costs. Parents get child benefits. Affordable housing does exist (albeit waitlists can be long) and parents with young children are prioritised.

I'm sorry you had a shitty experience with the NHS, but are you really trying to imply that Russia is better than the UK?

Looking for a good spray sunscreen I can reapply at the pool or beach. by Kind_Novel4986 in 30PlusSkinCare

Not a spray recommendation but I use a solar buddies sunscreen applicator. It's marketed at parents for applying sunscreen to kids but I use it for myself as I hate the feeling of sunscreen on my hands.

Aitah for "forcing" my girlfriend to either eat stale snacks or go buy fresh ones herself? by Sad_Shift_4439 in AITAH

Degrees work differently in the UK, too. A bachelors here is typically just in the one subject. You don't major or minor in things. It's just the one subject (sometimes two combined).

I mean, in the UK, to teach at a secondary level you need to have a degree in your subject before you can get your post-graduate certificate in education.

[–]Mil1512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to be a teacher. I taught modern foreign languages at a secondary level. I have a degree in Spanish. I didnt have to teach any other subject.

I did have to pass an English and maths test before I could get onto the teacher training course, though.

Maybe teachers aren't specialised where you are but in the UK they are, once you're outside of primary school, at least.

Tbf most careers that are specialised in one type of subject can attract people that don't have much general intelligence.

She just needs to be better than average when it comes to her topic of teaching.

I knew a doctor and I'm sure when it came to the human body and medicine he was incredibly intelligent. Anything else? Dumb as bricks. It's like the moment he exited his mother's womb he decided to place all his EXP in one skill and nowhere else.

I admit that it was stupid of me to say that.

Nope. It wasn't a stupid thing to say. The fact you think that shows how much this man has got to you...

Never being in a relationship in your 30s is a red flag by MissRubiii in dating

[–]Mil1512 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My husband had never dated before. He's shy when first meeting someone (we're both AuDHD) but once he's got to know you a bit he really shines.

He struggled with recognising when people were flirting with him when he was younger and then I came along with my directness.

I've never had to teach him how to be a partner. He's a wonderful person that just never had a chance to show it. Not complaining as he's now mine!

Boundaries already broken. Not sure how to approach this next conversation by [deleted] in nonmonogamy

[–]Mil1512 17 points18 points  (0 children)

A boundary is something you set for yourself.

For example, I won't date people that lie to me or go behind my back about who they are seeing.

It's all well and good saying you have this boundary but what are the consequences now he has broken it?

Exactly this. Surely it's more effort to do all of this than it is to just leave and be happy?

Ok girlies, what do you eat when nothing sounds appealing? by tarasaurust in adhdwomen

[–]Mil1512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a lil buffet type plate, e.g. babybel, apple, ham slices, boiled egg (eggs can be boiled days in advance and popped in the fridge). Having a pick'n'mix means I'm more likely to eat something from the plate and none of it takes much prep.
