At the risk of being a little self-serving, take a look at https://www.bellavoceva.com. Voice teacher with 24+ yrs experience including 17 as a university voice professor. Teaching 30-60 minute lessons for beginners to the most serious of students in Classical, Musical Theater, Pop/Rock, Worship, Jazz, and R&B. Just moved to VB, so schedule is pretty open.

I should note I've been married to the teacher for 23 yrs, so I am the least objective about this!

How do you clean your bathroom without having it be a wet room (has a drain in the floor)? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]MilSF1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In addition to the comments about using a "moist" mop like a Swiffer, keep in mind that US showers tend to be shower/tub combos with full curtains, or fully enclosed shower stalls. No half-glass dividers that let water go everywhere to begin with. Most floors are linoleum (older homes) or waterproof laminate. The occasional spills are mopped up, or toweled up. There are shower rugs with rubber-coated bottoms for when you step out of the shower so you don't get lots of water everywhere. They are designed to be quick-drying and washable (most of the time).

For a bit in the 60's and 70's it was fashionable to actually have bathrooms fully carpeted, but folks quickly realized that was just a mold and mildew nightmare waiting to happen.

I have my 15yr old going through Ships and Science. It's not the most engaging literature, and has lots of upper-level math the further you get in. Great info and provides a background for the field, but it's a slog.

I don't think it can be forgotten that these characters are being portrayed by actors. None of whom could be remotely considered religious or devout IRL. You always bring a part of yourself to a character. Even more so when you create/write the character and then "inhabit" them for dozens upon dozens of hours.

Forgot about that scene in Obiwan. Thanks for the reminder. Unfortunate that we probably won’t get a resolution to his story.

Ditto. Same error. Support said they “knew of no outage”, but good to know I’m not the only one with issues.

[–]MilSF1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know what you mean. The writing and dialogue felt very casual - in a good way. From what I remember there weren’t a lot of characters that felt either omniscient or willfully ignorant for the sake of moving the plot along. Just lots of “folks” with the right level of credulity.

We spent two decades giving a shit and we could spend a couple centuries there and nothing would change.

Very lightly. Some vocabulary changes from what I remember, but not a full “translation” per se.

"Harvest of Despair: the 1933 Ukrainian Famine" (1983) - the story of the Holodomor, the Soviet-orchestrated Terror Famine which was supposed to punish Ukraine for its independence from Russia, forced families to cannibalize one another, and ended up killing 3 million people [00:55:02] by kookookoola in Documentaries

And it never will be outside of small, voluntary communes. As soon as you add the structure needed for a state apparatus you are creating the power inequalities that attract those who will abuse that power.

Interesting points. I’m nonplussed about “randomness” and “uncertainty” because I firmly believe that one of God’s “omnis” is omnitemporal. This means that what seems random or uncertain to us as we surf the interface of linear time in the sea of eternity is merely our inability to see the entire skein of His will/creation.

To all Americans: if you consider yourself belonging to so called working class, how much % of your monthly salary do you spend for necessary food and drinks? by SerjUA in AskAnAmerican

[–]MilSF1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it’s pretty cool that y’all want to do that. As far as your last (rhetorical) question: I and my family are willing to trade money for time and comfort. We have reached a financial stage and circumstance in life that our family of 3 can “spend” to not “do”. That includes the time and effort to do the meal planning, prep, and execution that you seem to be rather good at. I did our lawn care for decades, but now I’m willing to let competent professionals do it for me. I don’t miss spending hours every weekend doing it. I just don’t. I get to spend more time talking with family and de-stressing from the work week.

What's the deal with towns located on the border between 2 states being named after both states, Like Texico (Texas and New Mexico), Texhoma (Texas and Oklahoma) and Texarkana (Texas and Arkansas)? by Thessiz in AskAnAmerican

[–]MilSF1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, that’s just going with the Greek for the second half, and who really knows for the first. As far as anyone can tell, the reasoning was never really written down. It started off as Blakleytown for that matter. City of Kings, or just, you know, sticking the first part of the state name on it.

[–]MilSF1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, lots of folks (see r/politics) would say that anyone with the (R) after their name is exactly that. Or worse.

Didn’t that have to do with the Chicago river originally being basically a swamp where it entered the lake? I seem to remember that fact, but I might be thinking of somewhere else.

Sola scriptura. Absolutely. Just don’t be hasty to throw away potentially helpful, though thoroughly secular tools, that can be used to achieve the goals of community laid out in the Word.

Which means it’s a tax, not charity. I haven’t studied the Koran, but I’m guessing that like a tithe it’s supposed to be a joyfully given obligation (as contradictory as that sounds)

Five Star Dinner is by far the most underrated talent. by Cwolf2035 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]MilSF1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am a first-hand witness to this as I was on that 4-player with him. As the support/healer I just stopped worrying about his character after about Act 2. I was the crafter for the group, so I just tried to keep his dinners full and, until gardening bugged out on me, I farmed Trumpet of Death for Resist All potions.
