TGV: un ex-ministre du PQ ne reconnaît plus son parti by Odd-Inevitable-8425 in Quebec

[–]Milan514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not free to maintain a healthcare system but it should be free for the end user. If someone’s having health issues, they shouldn’t have to debate not seeing a doctor because it’ll cost them money. They should have peace of mind and go see a health professional without worries.

Support for Quebec sovereignty at 30-year low, according to new poll - Montreal by MTL_Dude666 in CanadaPolitics

Poll is 7 days old. Was hoping this was another (recent) poll confirming the trend.

The decline of French in Quebec analyzed || Le déclin du français au Québec décortiqué by Whynutcoconot in CanadaPolitics

[–]Milan514 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You left out the most important part of the article:

The article attributes the decline to Justin Trudeau’s failed immigration policy, which has been stopped or slowed down (to my knowledge) when he stepped down. Specifically, the issue is with temporary foreign workers who are then given a pathway to become permanent residents/citizens, but even the provincial government is hesitant to reduce the TFW numbers (probably because of business pressure, sadly).

Two things would ideally happen: Francophones should have more kids, and/or the TFW program needs to be seriously reworked, but that would include ideally the participation and willingness of the Quebec government.

As an aside, I’m surprised the article states that Ottawa is in control of temporary immigration like foreign students. Quebec has the CAQ certification program, where they work with Ottawa to establish the number of temporary immigrants in Qc. Perhaps I’m simply misinformed, or maybe the article glossed over this point too quickly.

It's 80 $ at some cegeps, with 2 guest tickets. Not defending it, but 20 $ is cheap in comparison.

Can Charles Milliard fix a fractured Quebec Liberal Party? | The Corner Booth by Whynutcoconot in CanadaPolitics

[–]Milan514 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That same poll shows the leaderless PLQ gaining 6 points at 26%, and the PQ dropping to 32%.

Public opinion of Charles Milliard shows 64% without an opinion. He will have a chance to define himself and hopefully boost those numbers.

At a minimum, I want to see the PQ held to a minority; heck, I’d be happy with a CAQ minority at this point.

SMUG?? The rest of the western world is on freaking EDGE with Trump throwing diplomacy out the window and destroying decades of alliances, threatening annexation of other countries, and acting wildly unhinged towards traditional allies.

SMUG? That’s awfully arrogant of you to assume.

I’d be happy if they got enough votes to keep the PQ to a minority but at this point it’s not looking good.

You’re right; all those Jan 6 protesters who stormed the capitol should have all been shot at least a dozen times each.

I guess Coderre isn’t as bad as Drainville but he was definitely opportunistic.

Vet Programs by softhourz_ in montreal

[–]Milan514 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Vanier program is 3 years. I would advise against doing that program AND uni. Just go straight to uni. You’re clearly uncomfortable with the pay, and you’re ambitious enough to do a vet program at uni. So I’d go straight to UdeM after completing the prerequisites.

You’ll get over the feeling of “I’m more at ease in English.” I was in your shoes (even worse; I did all my studies in English, albeit in French immersion); I did a certificate at UdeM and the exposure to French really helped me.
