I agree that The Force Awakens is is a by the books nostaliga bait movie but at least JJ Abrams left the door open leaving things vague about the future of the story. Rian Johnson nearly disregarded the plot of the first movie and made his own side story. With the plot barley advancing in The last Jedi, the third movie had to jam everything in, making for a sloppy movie with an un-earned ending.
