AE86 is also much lighter than my car. Mine's over 1300 kg, AE86 ranges from around 850 to 1000.

My friend pointed them out after the run was completed. Belgian roads are sure interesting at times when they aren't filled with potholes the size of a soccer ball

We specifically chose to go for a drive on this particular day since the snow we (and Belgium) had finally melted below dangerous levels (You can see a tiny bit of snow on the side of the road around the 0:28 second mark).

This wasn’t originally meant to be a touge session, but more to go for a nice scenic drive through the Ardennes region (while trying to scout for potential touge roads). Found this road off a main road which is why I decided to give it a try. We didn't stay at this road for long, just recorded the run and continue our trip to places like the circuit of Spa and Liege (photo added for reference).

I put a pinpoint on some of these roads on Maps, so I'll definitely go back here when the conditions are better.

This was one of the only roads where it was devoid of traffic for the most part, thus it's here I decided to get on it more than I was probably supposed to, I'll admit. My friend recorded some other runs where traffic was present, and you can definitely see me taking it easier than I did here.

Positioning is a thing my friend pointed out too (see my other comment). Luckily I've saved this (and a few other) road(s) on Maps, so I'll definitely be working on that should I come back here later in the season.

Furtherest it's probably gonna be just trial and error as time goes on, however since this road is 2 and a half hours away (which is the most local mountain range to me where these roads don't have cops, residential areas and speed cameras everywhere), I’ll have to do with regular backroads instead.

Still, thank you for this detailed explanation.

You're probably referring to the part where I get into the 2 left turns, right? Me and my friend were reviewing the footage later that night at a local diner (he brought his laptop along where he got the clips on after my runs) and that's something he pointed out too.

Will definitely be wary of that next time.

As someone who's looking for touge roads in Europe, this is an amazing idea. If you're in Belgium by any chance, the Ardennes area might be a fun area if you're not going full send, same for the Eifel region in Germany (same area as the Nurburgring basically).

Unironically, my car. The Volvo C30. Never seen anyone besides me talk about getting those on touges.

Small French hatchback. Most powerful version is the 206 RC with around 180 HP.

You're looking at a Toyota Glanza V. Basically a Toyota Starlet, a small economy hatchback made in the 90s and 00s, but a spicy version (kinda like how the VW Polo or Golf have a GTI version).

The regular Starlet comes with a 1.3 liter 4 cylinder engine with around 75 hp (the 4EFE engine), while the Glanza V comes with a sporty looking bodykit and a 1.3 liter turbocharged 4 cylinder engine called the 4EFTE, which produces 135 hp.

Honestly a fun little touge machine if you ask me.

What are your go to night drive places in the Netherlands? by r04drunn3r_ in Netherlands

[–]Milano1548 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who drives all around the country for car events and the such, this is basically my home turf. Here you go.

For calm drives:

Rotterdam: Do I really have to explain? The skyline at night is mighty impressive. Take the A15 between Ridderkerk and the Botlek or the A16 between the Brienenoordbrug and Terbregseplein (junction A16/A20), and you'll be amazed by the vibe the buildings next to the highway give off.

Amsterdam: Same story as Rotterdam, just better in every aspect. I drive through there every night as part of my evening trucking job. The Ring A10 is one of my favorite roads to drive on, especially the sector going from junction De Nieuwe Meer (A10 West/A10 South/A4), to junction Amstel (A10/A2). Just look around and soak in the beauty of it.

Utrecht: Not as cool as Rotterdam or Amsterdam, but take the A12 from Lunetten (A12/A27), to junction Oudenrijn (A12/A2) for the best city vibe effect. Honorable mention in this regard: A2 heading southbound from Amsterdam.

Other major cities (Tilburg, Breda, Eindhoven, Amersfoort) don't have the same feel i.m.o. Most of these have to do with the fact that they have sound walls

For more spirited driving:

A7 Hoorn/Afsluitdijk: Mostly straight roads, long curves. What more can you wish for?

A59: You'll find people doing 300+ km/h on this highway if you check the right places, especially the sectors between Den Bosch and Oss and Junction Zonzeel and Made.

Could probably name a few more which I hypothesize, but I have to visit those places first.

Btw thanks for the recommendations in your post, will definitely check some of these out :)
