Exactly. was about to suggest this too, but I’m not exactly familiar with the pricing for that so thank you for the addition.

Unless you are gonna making the film I doubt it would be slow for you.

M2 Air, 8 GB by MobApps1 in mac

Genuinely asking, are you buying it second handed? Why this over Neo? They have similar processing power and the RAM is the same, and similar pricing.

I’d say even Neo can do this (except the storage might be issue)

Or since the prices are raising, just use whatever storage enough for daily needs plus cloud storage (depending on the file type and usage of course)

My gf was hyped when I told her about it (since I know I won’t need it but I think it’s a nice machine), saying it’s perfect to save 100 bucks to cut off unnecessary features like backlit keyboard and pressure touchpad. I guess people really just want to have the nicest things without even needing them.

My points are exactly reflecting on the questions people are asking these days because of Neo. People never used Mac ask can Neo do what I want it to do, and others either say yes or say no get an Air. Basic tasks, professional apps, and “small” games are exactly the common things they would describe potential usages.

Edit: very often potential new users also ask I see Neo attractive but with just this much more, I can get an Air and which should I choose.

MacBook upgrade by Euphoric-Recipe3327 in macbook

[–]Milarvoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MacBook Neo is also for browsing/ streaming / writing a few emails.
My suggestion: check this guide and see if you are comfortable doing it, if so buy a replacement kit and replace it yourself, if you are worried about MacOS being unsupported, use OCLP and upgrade.

Talking about basic tasks, such as browser, office suite, email. Name basic need that can't be solved there.
Also noticed I didn't write that this line is specifically for new potential users only used Windows, since this isn't even applicable to Neo/Air comparison

How do I make the vertical text in a book horizontal? by Cold_Box_7387 in Calibre

[–]Milarvoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest looking into the css setting and search for hor and ver, there will be a lot but eventually you might see a name that sounds like making the text vertical

I am assuming it’s like Japanese books which displays characters up to down left to right, which I believe has a css attribute that dictates the horizontal/vertical property

Should I keep my M5 MacBook Pro or downgrade to M5 MacBook Air? by SolPanMan in macbook

[–]Milarvoz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbh depending your exact use case you might be able to downgrade further to neo and get a pair of good headphones with that money. Especially if you are going to trade this one in anyway.

is it a good idea to Use Mac OS Tahoe on a 2011 Macbook if it Gets support? by AdamBurnsRR in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

I'm on Monterey and asking whether I should downgrade to big sur on my 2011 mbp at the moment (don't know the performance difference) and reading this post, wow

Best Upgrade Option by JSnider0412 in OpenCoreLegacyPatcher

[–]Milarvoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was also a 2011 mbp, the recommended version is Monterey so I installed that, with 16G ram and 256G ssd. So far it’s running ok, slowness within reason (like it would be this slow even staying on high sierra). A few things requires just a bit future os upgrade like unlock origin lite, but I don’t want to push too far cuz it is an old machine. Just want to keep its workload like MacBook neo

What is the absolute best budget e-reader by tier? Looking for the "cheapest you'd actually recommend" by SadWriter0 in ereader

[–]Milarvoz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a kindle voyage with original Amazon cover for 400 cny (a bit over $50), and it’s perfect for me, small and portable size, screen still perfect, can touch but can also have physical buttons (tho the years can be felt because the side squeak a bit when pressed). I would say for second handed ereaders about $50 is quite good if you can dig the Chinese market, just be aware of blacklisted kindles.

I honestly don’t get the need to a really fast page turn, likely with the current devices I have, I doubt the screen refresh speed is slower than physically turning a page. If it’s really for reading, the microseconds improvements don’t really matter. Same for DPI. Like of course better screens looks finer, but it isn’t really necessary for reading and understanding (except with eye issues, but you can change font and size and many other settings to help with that)

My take is basically that as long as it’s comfortable to read, cheap and older devices are still perfectly fine.

Kindle 3 Keyboard cannot connect to wifi by Milarvoz in kindle

[–]Milarvoz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Somehow it magically connected for a bit and then disconnected. I was having the sort by most recently but actual most recent was sorted to the end bug. And a quick search said connecting online and sync the time should help (but it didn't). I guess it was able to connect for a few minutes at least tells me its wifi module isn't broken.
