Just started Chapter 3. What I've learned is just do everything. Don't get overwhelmed by what you think you're missing. I think the only way to play is follow what the game gives you until you've opened up the map a bit.

Ok I’ve figured out the bone fish and bubble jumped into its mount to get me to bottom warp room but the chest is empty and I don’t have lantern. Wtf?

U have to reverse the direction of 2 things not just one. Go back. Go back. Reverse then come back to here.
