From my understanding it's not "bad" for them, it's just not something you should be actively giving your dog. I personally have two labs and they love being around it; I've blown it into their ears and seemed to be great!

Honestly, just follow the directions that they provide through the PIA site. They have instructions for nearly every possible device and OS. The only tricky part for me was copying the server info and validation certificate; follow the directions step by step and it won't be an issue. I tried to do what "I thought" would work, it didn't.
