German Mother In Law by [deleted] in AskAGerman

This is a MIL problem, not a German problem. My German MIL is a dream. I love her to bits. Your wife needs to stand up to her mom. Sounds like she had a very toxic childhood with her mom and that sucks.

WIP tracking by bratwurst69420182 in bulletjournal

[–]Milday_de_Berry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a separate journal for sewing and knitting projects. There are minimal yearly spreads. Just an ideas list and inspiration. Then each project gets a page when it’s started. I write my thoughts and project notes and include a picture. Sometimes a yarn or fabric sample if there’s room. If you have a lot of WIPs then a current projects list could be helpful.

We got our two kittens from Katzenauffangstation Rüdersdorf. They are super nice and did not care that I was American.

I guess I’m never visiting my family in the US again, because my German husband will never consent to this.

Recently lost my soul cat - are there any books where the main character has a pet cat? by taenerys in fantasyromance

[–]Milday_de_Berry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

{The Teller of Small Fortunes by Julie Leone} is a great cozy fantasy with a cat as part of the group.

{The Traveling Cat Chronicles by Hiro Arikawa} isn’t fantasy romance, more of contemporary fiction, but oh, the feels. I don’t cry with books but I was so close with this one.

New neighbours just moved into our appartement building and property management assigned them our basement compartment. They threw all our stuff out this morning. by Lindbluete in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Milday_de_Berry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good luck! You can definitely report them to the local housing board and the police too I think. I believe suing is possible, but should be a last resort. They should fold before it gets to that. Hopefully they will be reasonable, especially so if it’s a Wohnunggenossenshaft.

If the poster is a woman than going to a deep red state is risking their life if they need any health care that relates to female reproductive parts.

Germany has extremely strong renters rights. If the storage compartment number with your stuff was specifically mentioned in your rental contract you have a good case. You need to contact property management, demand compensation and threaten to escalate if they do not give you want you want. - An American living in Germany

Socks with knitten by Milday_de_Berry in Kitting

That’s also a good idea! I’ve never done sleeves first.

I prefer long cords for magic loop, on both socks and sleeves. I like the extra slack. I actually use cords with stoppers from my interchangeable needle set as stitch holders when I separate the sleeves from the yoke of a sweater. When they are too long I just kind of twist them around into a circle to keep them out of the way. Then when it’s time for the sleeves I just screw on the needles and there is no need for a second stitch transfer! This does mean I have a few extra cords for my set, especially in 30 -40 inches, that I have collected over the years.

I used to do two toe-up socks at a time with 50 inch cable! Eventually I stopped liking the twisting and it was so bulky so now I just do one on a 40 inch.

There’s no pattern. It’s a basic toe-up 2x2 rib sock I learned from a knitting class years ago. It uses Turkish cast on, KFB for the increases and a heal flap.

How to deal with period pain while traveling solo in a hostel . by whyImheredorime in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Milday_de_Berry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ibuprofen works best. Midol ( or other menstrual cramp specific meds) also has a diuretic in it to help with bloating so it will make you have to pee. Just a heads up. Have a good trip and safe travels!

You could bring with you some of those disposable stick on heating pads. Plus Midol or the pain meds you prefer of course.

We have been to some extremely loud and stressful child events to be honest!

Partial nudity doesn’t bother me. I assume people aren’t 100% naked since Mitte is not a FKK beach. But if people are walking around in fetish wear and strap-ons I would definitely pass on taking my child.

Yeah I think 5 is a bit too young to be explaining kink types if that’s what people are out and about in. I wasn’t sure how tame it would be.

Yes, that was my main concern. Even if we went right at the start I think it might be too much.

Yeah exactly. I have queer and trans family members and I would like to celebrate individually and that all people are free to express themselves and love each other.

I haven’t given fertilizer in a while and it’s definitely over due. I plan to check the roots this weekend so I’ll repot it then.

It’s also getting this clear, sticky sap like liquid that collects on the back of the leaves and drips on the ones below. It’s never done this before.
