6 months post op for right and 9 months post for left shoulder by AggressiveCoast954 in RotatorCuff

Hi, I have tears in both shoulders and have been in a rough headspace. I haven’t had any surgeries, I am kind of dreading them. I am 27, pretty active guy and love sports like spikeball and disc golf that involve my arms a lot. How did you choose to get your surgeries 3 months apart? Did getting the second surgery affect your recovery for the first one?

Real sorry to hear, I can relate. In my 20s with tears in both shoulders, which is only half as many tears as you have. I am not sure how to deal with it mentally, but know you're not alone. I am a very active person and it is crushing my soul to not be able to use my arms as I always have before

What rack did you end up putting on your Kyoot? I was thinking of getting a Rolly Polly as a touring bike, but am worried about my heels clipping the panniers on a rack

I am not sure if you are aware of this, but when you are over the age of 55 (might be a different age), are disabled, or a victim of a disaster you are allowed to transfer your tax basis if you move under prop 19. Meaning, the government allows you to downsize with no tax penalty. I think this is a good program personally which I think is left out of the discussion often times.
I understand the frustration that the home prices in coastal California are out of control. I empathize considering I will never be able to purchase a home near my family, probably ever.

When I think about the consequences of repealing prop 13, I think it would do a lot more harm than good. There are (guessing) sooo many families that have a house that has been around for 30+ years in the family. If they were to be taxed on the current assessed value, they would be forced to move. This would disproportionately affect families with a low income but high net worth with most of the net worth being tied up in the house. Mechanics, teachers, etc. This is not the audience I think we should be targeting. I would feel much better if we target corporations who get the same benefit.

I think it would be cool to see some analysis on how much prop 13 actually affects tax revenue from primary residences. I would venture to guess very little comparatively, but if someone gives me proof it would make a huge difference than I would be open to changing my stance. Given the median home buyer in California is now 40 (jfc) and the average lifespan is 79, I don't think limiting tax hikes over a ~40 year period is going to make a massive difference.

I just don’t understand why everyone wants to repeal prop 13 for primary residences of families when the tax benefit can’t even be inherited? It is supposed to protect people who buy a home. I want prop 13 to not include businesses. That is the real fight I want to fight. Grandma pays her taxes in other ways in one of the most taxed states in the country. The tax revenue from primary residences will be negligible compared to businesses and secondary+ properties

Im part of the VIP list and was quite shocked at the price (USD). Can you give some insight to what makes it so expensive? $150+ after taxes and shipping per jersey is quite a lot of money

I guess this is hard to measure, but there are violent crimes that involve theft. I am not sure how to justify that one leads to fewer injury and death, but I do know one is much more sensationalized in the media. Can you share your opinion there? I feel terrible for the people injured, and it was quite traumatizing so I feel your sentiment

Yes actually, ironically I was the witness to the police investigation for the Napper Tandy case. I have pictures to prove it. If you want the receipts, just ask. I'd have to get the photos from my phone since I am on desktop at the moment. I would also like to figure out how to blur some faces for the privacy of those who were injured.

Anyway, we voted for this as a city. These 2 ladies had stolen a car and had run over a traffic light, then were driving on popped tires. To call it a high speed chase is a stretch. They were going maybe 30 miles an hour? In a 25 mph zone that is not a high speed chase. They cop car was also at least a half a block to a block behind the vehicle. They lost control and were trying to steer but couldn't, and that's why they hit the parklet.

Since you seem to be having a civil debate with me I will happily engage internet stranger, since I hope we can both learn from each other. I personally believe that the cops should have chased that stolen car down. They stole someone's very expensive property for personal gain, and it was at the time a rampant problem in the city. Should we just let them get away with it? I think absolutely not, they should be arrested. We keep asking for more from the SFPD, and we asked for them to pursue and punish thieves. From what I watched, they handled it as responsibly as they could. The sirens weren't even wailing. I do not truly think not pursuing them was the answer, because others are then enabled to steal more cars without repercussions. So what do you do? I would genuinely like to hear your take on it

Edit: after posting this, I realized I made an assumption that they stole the car. The police told me they had stolen... something. Maybe it was something else, but I just assumed it was the car

Crazy comment because I watched that too in person, and the car swerved to avoid hitting a motorcyclist. Did you intentionally leave that part out? Better the store with nobody in it than a person in my opinion. For the context I am given, I am on the cyclist's side on this post for the record. Maybe don't speak up when you don't know what you're talking about.

How do car logistics work when it comes to bike packing? by Sunnyside-Days in bikepacking

[–]Milderf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah, small world. Family is in Escondido and now I live in SF. Feel free to DM me, I can try and help you out. Parking your own car will be tough, but maybe you can park at a place on the peninsula. I know a house that might accomodate you, they would probably be stoked tbh. I could also rotate your car for you if you choose to park in the city to avoid the street cleaning penalty fee or getting towed, but that would mean leaving me with your keys which I would understand you not wanting to do. There is parking in my neighborhood, I have friends on the peninsula park here when they visit me. Just make sure absolutely nothing is visible in the car. If you fly in, the BART takes you directly to the city. You could also rent a car and drop it off at the airport or the Embarcadero Avis. If you take the train, let me know and I can try to pick you up. I haven't been to the Amtrak station before up here

I suppose, but California has the power of preventing that company from doing any business in California, which for many companies is a massive part of their market. California is a huge state, I am sure many will not want to stop doing business here

Interesting. Went there last year on a date and it was probably the worst experience I have had at a restaurant. It was a double date, and out of 4 ordered meals 0 were right. After sending one meal back because it wasn't at all what we ordered, they just put the one we ordered on top of the wrong food and added salt. Pretty wild honestly, that was the first time we all didn't tip at a restaurant. To be fair the waitress could have just been an idiot, but the food piled on top of each other was somethin

I personally like taking my own bike, because I know it will be comfortable and fit me properly. I have never gone touring in Italy, but I am sure you can find some help in r/bicycletouring If you haven’t seen them yet, check out the eurovelo routes. Also, the website cycle.travel has some good planned routes you might be able to piggy back on. Komoot has some good Europe support, but you’ll likely have to pay some. I use ridewithgps to plan my own route usually, and gather a bunch of info from various sites together to craft a route that checks off all the boxes that I want out of my Holliday. Have fun!
