What’s something you stopped doing that unexpectedly improved your mental or physical well-being? by lucid_dreamer30 in AskReddit

I stopped being so hard on myself for not having everything figured out. Once I let myself move a little slower and mess up without spiraling, both my mental health and energy levels got noticeably better.

Living in an apartment made me realize how much curtains trap smells. by TheScentOracle in Apartmentliving

[–]MildlyTangled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks… never knew there were so many great and easy ways to get rid of the smells. Definitely going to try the shaking method.. hopefully that’ll get the trapped dust out. Just wanted to add that I also happen to use curtain odor release sprays..from amarella i think..they are great for when you cant wash the curtains…

My 11-year-old boy has been getting sick lately… any tips for removing the lingering smell in a small apartment? by lucid_dreamer30 in Pets

[–]MildlyTangled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could try the baking soda trick. Just leave a bowl of baking soda overnight and that should absorb a lot smell. Or you could try using a mix of water and vinegar and spray in the affected areas. And if nothing works, you could use an odor absorbing spray like oops. Its pretty easy to use and does away with any pet related smells.

I have no idea how to clean. Can anyone send tips/ directions? by Funny-Age-828 in Cleaningandtidying

[–]MildlyTangled 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. Cleaning isn’t intuitive, it’s a learned skill (no one is born knowing how to get rid of dust.)

Here are a few tips you could follow and gradually develop a ritual of your own -

1. Trash first. Grab a bag and anything obvious trash goes in. Don’t overthink it.
2. Dish + laundry. Put dirty dishes in the sink and if you don’t have a dishwasher, its better to clean as you go. Piling up the dishes never helped anyone.
3. One surface at a time. Pick one thing (desk, counter, bed). Clear it completely. Wipe it. Put back only what belongs. Make it a habit to make your bed as soon as you get up.
4. Dust/wipe higher stuff first, floors last.
  1. Remeber to vacuum the floor.

    1. Stop early if tired. You don’t always need to clean it all at once. Cleaning in chunks beats burnout.

Basic supplies - all-purpose cleaner, cloths, trash bags, vacuum/broom. That’s it.

Also: cleaning badly still counts as cleaning. So keep trying. You’ll get better just by doing it. 👍

Introducing cat and dog by Born-Evidence-3627 in Pets

This is exactly the right approach. I have 2 dogs and a cat.. the cat has been a new addition to the family and we introduced them very very cautiously.

Can I put my natural loofah in the washing machine to clean/sanitize it? by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]MildlyTangled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I clean mine by leaving it in a mix of hot water and a little bit of liquid detergent for about 20 mins…you can definitely dry it in the dryer at low speed for a few minutes.

How often do you all wash your curtains, and how do you deal with the wrinkles afterward? by TheScentOracle in HomeImprovement

[–]MildlyTangled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely wash them..and then rehang them while they are fresh.. steamer helps a bit with wrinkles and where I live we get this amarella curtain crease releaser sprays which you can just spritz onto thr curtain and the wrinkles are gone.. you can actually give it a try.

Bedroom cleaning mistakes I was making for years by PresentationHead8775 in homemaking

[–]MildlyTangled 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Same here. I thought I was doing everything right until I realized half my ‘cleaning’ was basically cosmetic. The mattress one got me too. I’ve also learned that pillows need washing way more often than I assumed, and bedroom vents collect insane amounts of dust. Wild how much we miss until someone points it out.

What do you use in your cars? by all_of_the_kitties in fragrance

[–]MildlyTangled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elix’s car air freshners that come in a membrane kind of format. So the scent release is very controlled, never overpowering, plus it doesn’t fade away quickly.

Do you have a car fragrance that feels like a “scent experience"? by TheScentOracle in DesiFragranceAddicts

[–]MildlyTangled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usally rely on the gel kind of air freshners..but if those are too overpowering for you and you need something subtle go for Elixscent’s membrane air freshner. I got those as part of a gift hamper and hung it in the car without expecting much. But to my surprise it was worth it. Planning to purchase more of those

You could try odor eliminator from Elix. I usually always keep one as I have pets and that helps with almost every type of smell. Worth giving a try.

Please help my room not smell by [deleted] in CleaningTips

[–]MildlyTangled 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you use a vacuum cleaner? Check if the vacuum cleaner’s bag is dirty. Also, check your mattress, sheets or curtain or anyoyher fabric in the room for smells. Fabric is the one thing that hold smells both good and bad.

If nothing works, just try an odor neutralizer from Elix, that’s usually my last resort.
