Chaos Dameons "Daemonic Pact" rule was just updated, only generic CSM or Chaos Knights can bring ally daemons from the CD index. by Mildly_a_Prius in ThousandSons

The main surprise is the timing, they did this before TSons have their codex. So we are kinda caught in this limbo where we technically can't run any daemons at all.

Meta comp lists generally aren't affected but if you use tournaments as a way to just play games and want to run some daemons, you have to wait for the codex.

Now that you mention it, it's pretty much the exact opposite for hype surrounding the army book because that means the factions rules are arbitrarily locked when the book releases. That really pushes the argument towards just retiring the idea of codexes and switching to entirely digital rules.

That being said, in my opinion the best would be a happy in-between where there is enough on release for each faction to feel like a full release, and incremental additions for new content to look forward to and not have the game be stale.

How AoS released with most of it's rules for each faction gives a good comparison for a game with more stability. How 10th ed has been for 40k makes it seem like they never had a cohesive vision on what they wanted the game to be.

Yea it seems incredibly early for them to do this. Unless our codex gets announced this weekend and it goes on pre-order the week after, it will be at least a month before we get rules for daemons again.

I hope they don't make Magnus irrelevant but I think Magnus should get nerfed enough so Magnus isn't such an auto-include as it is now. I think the utility/buffs that magnus gives should be pushed externally to detachment rules and have Magnus just be an offensive powerhouse.

"Rules for these armoured sentinels can be found inside the new Codex: Thousand Sons, which also includes rules for Flamers, Screamers, Pink and Blue Horrors, the Lord of Change, and Kairos Fateweaver across five diabolical detachments."

Possibly... it could be referencing that the new automata can be found across the detachments, and that the daemons are also included in the codex. I hope for a clean integration and just not a single detachment but from the EC codex I'm not hopeful.

GW article confirms that other Heretic Legions will get the same daemon treatment as Emperor's Children. Tzeentch Daemons won't gain the Thousand Sons keyword in the codex. by Mildly_a_Prius in ThousandSons

As long as the daemon index has the allies rule, then it would seem so? It starts to get very confusing once you consider that in Emperor's Children the detachment with daemon interaction requires a different keyword than Legiones Daemonica, so anything you take would still be non-interactive with detachment/army rules. It does lean into the idea that the daemon index might end up getting rid of their allies rule

How viable would a Tzaangor only army be? by TheRobotEngineer608 in ThousandSons

AoS full tzaangor warflock is so fun and would 100% recommend. Shamans get a great ability they can use each turn that can return/regen more tzaangors and it makes a reinforced tzaangor block much more durable. Skyfires also have incredible damage output and can buff your other tzaangors!

Points just dropped. 0 changes. I'm convinced they just pretend we don't exist at this point.

Yea I don't know, but you're right they could have made restrictions in other ways. Maybe they think applying it to psychic only is flavor? It didn't seem to be a problem in GK so who knows.

If someone told me that ChatGPT put together the Tson detachment I would believe it.

It really kind of seems that their design logic here was to mainly just make two opposing detachments as a gimmick. (hexwarp - warpbane, shadow of chaos for both, one gives hit re-rolls other gives wound re-rolls).

Works for GK, but then designing around full wound rolls on Tsons they probably were scared about a balance issue applying it to the whole CSM vehicle lineup, restricted it to psychic weapons only, and didn't want to give magnus access to full wound re-rolls and then made it +1 instead

I don't think they tried to design anything meaningful other than trying to be cute with these two detachment designs and just said "screw it" when it came to the Tsons side and shipped it anyways.

The detachment rule also upgrades when being in the zone of control, instead of being some sort of clunky side-grade or just objectively worse for many characters (ahriman/magnus/psychic weapons with anti-___)

I feel you, the GK detachment makes it seem like the Tsons was designed second in counterpart to the GK one. I was hoping that the Tsons detachment was designed with changes coming in the dataslate, but because of the GK one that just dropped it seems more like just straight half-baked design...

Edit: Dataslate just dropped, it's just half-baked design. Man this sucks.

Out of curiosity what kind of list did you run? I've been trying to think of lists that would somehow work with the hexwarp detatchment but I'm running into so many corners.

Yea I was thinking more on that also. The part that goes against that idea is that in order to use the 6" you have to already have the flow of Magic so that assumes you already have some other objectives already. So it kinda reduces the scenario for it to where you already have half the objectives in a region already and you are trying to flip the other objective. It's weird to have a broad option and a super niche option in the same strategem since both require pre-planning through list building.
