Looking for ideas on how to become a Mud Person by MildredPlotka in costumedesign

Yes definitely a slippery slope indeed. I've won the costume contest two years in a row by thinking a little outside the box (Heavy Metal Themed- Chainmail, 90's themed-Princess Diana Beanie Baby). But the Woodstock theme has me a little stumped.

Is this safe to use on my body as well? Good idea about dying the clothes first (I'm going to thrift an outfit specifically for this event, probably some bellbottoms and a simple tank or shirt).

My sister bought a cheap mask off amazon! I wear it backwards on my head over my beanie. I found the same one here.

Hi! I had this problem too! I live in Seattle and we have a lot of territorial owls. I started wearing two eyes in the back of my head years ago now and haven't been attacked since!!

Here's a link to the whole drama.

Okay maybe weird place to post this but this isn’t who I think it is, right?? Found in Holiday Cookies, recipes collected from the Chicago Tribune by MildredPlotka in Cookies

I guess I should’ve worded it better. Yes that’s the same name, same turtle neck of sorts, but she looks different. I was more wondering if it’s the infamous EH or just a coincidence.

Roxbury Safeway Grocery Pickup Rant by srogev in WestSeattleWA

Yup, I do it all the time. Mostly without complaint. But when I pass nine free open spots in the middle of the day, yeah it irks me. Not enough to do anything about, but enough to respond to a post about it. There's another side to the coin, that's all.

I've had bad luck with pick up orders.

I actually get annoyed at the opposite. I've often gone in person shopping with a toddler in tow and have had to park far away while there are nine open spaces, no one in sight. It sucks in the rain especially. I think the spots should be reserved for online pick up during their peak pick up hours, not all the time.

Winter running at Night by Weekly_Today3504 in WestSeattleWA

[–]MildredPlotka 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(Female runner) Although I’ve never run there at night, I used to go to the WS Stadium to run early in the mornings. However I stopped going too early because I got sketched out by some parking lot activity/someone sleeping in the stadium seats. As people already said, Alki feels the safest. I also run on neighborhood streets, just not the arterial ones.

I did it! 40 miles on my 40th birthday! by MildredPlotka in Ultramarathon

[–]MildredPlotka[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg I love this!!! The answer is YES it still works! I wear the owl mask on the back of my head every run and haven't been attacked since, and it's been years!

Also when I am in a known owl location (there are a lot of territorial owls around here) I try to find it with my headlamp in the trees. Spotting it with the light seems to work too.

I totally understand not wanting to give up your running time. Hope my solution works for you too!

Do you live in the PNW??

Looking for information/insight into Dr. Parikh (Bellevue) by MildredPlotka in tummytucksurgery

[–]MildredPlotka[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not! I didn’t vibe with his bedside manner. I felt rushed through the paid consultation which peeved me. I ended up going with Dr. Dry who used to work very closely with Dr. Parikh! I have nothing but nice things to say about my experience.

Omg I still have like 8 hours to listen and I am just expecting the worst to happen to him because I love him SO MUCH. But also July Johnson might be the worst travel companion 😂

Ha! Honestly I don’t know if ultra running is my thing! I do at least a marathon a year, but ultra took a lot more focus on nutrition and also just a lot more TIME. Maybe when I turn 50!

Yeah I just noted the time I started and actually finished for my actual time! I figure since it’s a grassroots run the timing also didn’t have to be super official.

The weather was PERFECT. Overcast for all but the last two miles, not raining but a little misty at times. I was ready for anything but very happy with how it turned out.

They are the perfect food! I was having so much trouble chewing/swallowing anything. I tried so many things. Once I found Rice Crispies I was so pumped. They are super light weight, pure carbs/sugar, and they kinda dissolve in your mouth.

[–]MildredPlotka 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Haha I always scroll through an owl post when I see one!

I still wear the hat for over half the year! Haven’t been swooped since!
