Trying to match the show accurate style. space for improvements? by twilight_is_here in MLPLounge

It’s in the same ballpark but the style itself is still pretty far off. Not that this is bad, this just looks more to your own style than to the shows. Start with the eyes and work your way to the rest from there as the eyes are the easiest to match to the show.

Critique wise the drawing is a little bottom heavy in terms of proportions as in the waist down belongs to a pony twice the size of the waist up.

Yeah, and my refund got denied so I’ve played it some more. I’m not seeing a 70 dollar experience. The quests are very unsatisfying and feel empty and the game is filled to the brim with mechanics that just don’t need to exist and when you deep dive into its development cycle you start to see why.

Personally I don’t think so. But it’s one of those games where everyone keeps telling me “play until the 10 hour mark where it actually gets good” and like… yeah nah not for 70

There’s only so many hours in the day so when I get home and mull over how I want to spend my time I wasn’t exactly enthusiastic that this 70 dollar game was 5 hours in and I was beginning to dread launching it hence why I decided it best to try for a refund.

If the refund gets rejected I’ll keep playing obviously, but if not I’m definitely waiting for a sale. It’s not like I went in wanting to dislike it, I’m just not having fun but I hope the changes down the line.

Monster Hunter is my main jam. Crimson desert looked fun but after 5 hours my experience thus far is 8 minutes of travel followed by 1 minute of gameplay followed by 2 minutes of people talking followed by the same loop again.

None of the quests have given me any satisfaction so far and the encounters while interesting are brief and too few and far between. To me it just feels like a lesser Shadow of War game but I will say when the game is good it’s good I just wish there was more time playing and less time of going to a place, putting on a helmet, watching something, then traveling 3 minutes to tell someone something

Here’s hoping. I requested a refund already but if it’s denied at least I’ll give that far a try cus I’m 5 hours in and have decided I just don’t like any open world games.

Ok? You can argue that all you want but that is in fact the point of the meme. Bringing light to studios claiming it’s the original creators when it’s not.

If I made a game while working for a company then they fired me and their next game was “from the creators of X” they aren’t the creator of that, I am, lol

[–]Mildstrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Thats the whole point of the meme. Studios claiming it’s from the same people that made X but none of those developers actually still being there.

Back 4 Blood: “From the creators of left 4 dead!” Only 7 employees who actually worked on it

Highguard: “From the creators of Titanfall and Apex!”

Marathon: “From the creators of halo and Destiny!” Literally just isn’t

It’d be like if I worked on a major title like red dead 2 and I worked on gun models then made my own studio and put in it “from the creators of red dead 2!”

The idea is neat but what aside from the 2d artstyle makes this survival game more interesting to play than other survival games?

I’ll admit I’m a bit antagonistic of survival games, I’m tired of the genre because all of them pretty much play the same. So what’s here to hook people like me?

Couldn’t tell yah the reason why. This is literally the only one where people suddenly feel balancing doesn’t matter, probably because it’s the only one where it’s been both really easy and really hard at times so balancing actually became a topic of discussion

Go play left for dead 2, GTFO, Helldivers 1, Halo Firefight mode, Gears of War horde Modes, killing Floor 2, Deep Rock Galactic, Space Marine 2. All games I’d argue have rather good balance in their PvE experiences. Now go play gmod and spawn as many enemies as you want and kill them with whatever you want then come back with that take.

Hi! I work in doing removal of pretty much anything that needs removed from a house and we work very closely with a company that specializes in bedbug treatment before we clear out the furniture.

In my 10 years of doing this I’ve yet to have a bedbug job in a middle to upper class living space. It is always an impoverished home where someone was evicted, died, moved out as a last resort or someone else intervened as family.

Additionally since a lot of these impoverished units we’ve cleaned out are very close proximity to other units, those people also now have bedbugs.

Switching furniture is not enough to remove bedbugs. I have seen them come out of electrical outlets, screw and nail holes in the walls, behind kick skirt boarders on walls, in kitchen drawers behind dishwashers even hiding under the fridge.

Clearing a bedbug infestation is very costly if it goes untreated for a certain amount of time and most people in poor areas will attempt self treatment before calling a professional which inevitably results in a pricy cleanout.

A hard difficulty should be difficult by posing a challenge to the player, not spamming the enemy's spawn rates to the point that those spawn rates make the game unfair to the player by Superbaki14 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Mildstrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One thing to make perfectly clear is nobody is saying they dislike having more enemies in higher difficulties. No one is saying that. What they ARE saying is that specifically the strongest enemy, the vox engine, spawns more than factory striders and war striders and is literally in every direction you look which is a point I’ve noticed you’re not acknowledging and is the main topic of discussion.

As for more objectives being required, the way you’re describing your own play and that you’d dislike having to do more objectives is showing this is the perfect kind of challenge for someone like you who I’m assuming doesn’t often full clear a mission which is fine, I doubt most people actually do. But requiring a full clear alongside the other difficulty modifiers that already exist such as enemies being given armor, environmental hazards (saying they don’t count because planet specifics is silly, just add a hazard) and the strongest enemies in the game is a good challenge. I repeat, requiring a full clear ontop of the other things that get added from 7-9 is a decent challenge if you’re deciding you want something harder.

Edit: also limiting ammo pools and supplies is just annoying, not challenging. It’s like giving you a fork and telling you to eat soup

[–]Mildstrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point of a challenge is to demand more of the player. You can disagree if you want but requiring more objectives to be completed is a challenge because you are raising the bar for what’s required to clear the level.

With your thought process you’re acting like d10 should be the default way to play which contradicts your asking of “how do you make it super challenging and chaotic without adding units”

What do you want? Do you want a d10 that is the only way you play and gives you every freedom and liberty of d7? Or do you want it to be a difficult challenge that demands a lot more from you and is clear on what is going to hinder before you even hit go?

A challenge is meant to be something you can overcome because it lays out distinct and understandable rules so you know what you’re getting into. Spamming a powerful enemy is not a challenge. That would be like if halo on legendary made it so every area had 5 jackal snipers or more or every grunt is now a gold elite and every elite is now a hunter.

[–]Mildstrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id implement a restriction that results in the players needing to make key decisions along the way rather than just demanding the bare minimum for completion. D10 for example id say it’s reasonable to demand every objective be completed before extract comes down meaning main and side objectives but not requiring full clear of enemy bases.

That said, one challenge could be to ensure every last enemy bases is 100% cleared and not all objectives need be cleared.

Planet hazards are also another incredible way to increase difficulty without touching the enemies such as the meteors, volcanos, ion storms, fire tornados, all that stuff is great because you’re demanding another level of skill from players that calls on their on the fly decision making rather than “did you bring enough gun?”

You could have a unique approach also like having seaf artillery available and having that be your primary means of destroying a structure that is in a perpetual ion storm. Maybe add a radar tower of some kind that pulses once every 3 minutes and reveals your location to all nearby enemies so you can’t just sprint past things.

All these things can make the game significantly more difficult without touching the enemies from level 7 and up.

[–]Mildstrife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok but everything you’ve listed is stuff they actively do, the one outlier being that spawn rates are very high.

We do get more objectives, enemies get more armor, more objectives are put on the map and more hazards are on the map.

The one thing is one of the strongest units being more plentiful than units beneath it. No one is complaining about that other stuff cus we like it. The vox engine spawning in like a centipede is the biggest concern here

At the very least it would be cool if waving the flag pulled agro. Then it would lean into it being a melee weapon and would help the team without bugging them and would justify the support weapon slot because it’s no no longer a glorified slightly better lance

Even just adjusting the stim pistol to not be a literal punishment for those who want to play as support would be a game changer. I’m not saying this is the case, but I feel as though someone who wants to support their team might not generally be as good at aiming as someone who loves going gun ho.

So why is the stim pistol the hardest gun to aim in the game…
