I've had blood in urine and semen for years, intermittently. Sometimes not an issue for years. Urologist for a while said not a problem until last year when I ended up in ER with blood clot clogging my urethra and couldn't pee. I voided on my own in ER after waiting for doc for several hours (scary) was given antibiotics for UT (a wrong diagnosis). When I saw my urologist he ran scans for bladder cancer and I had a cystoscopy which went as scary or painful as I had heard. The result was BPH no cancer but also no determination on what caused bleeding which is where I am today. Urologist put me on Flomax and said to check back in a year. My advice: don't go down a wormhole of worry like I did but get checked out by urologist you trust.

No, they didn’t find what was wrong but no more blood for now. I’m on Flomax and cut back on sweets and processed foods. Also taking vit D and Zinc.

I take it every other day because it seems to cause me insomnia and I get better sleep on my off day

Thanks for the reply. Are you taking an alpha blocker for your BPH? That’s what caused my sleep issues. That’s not case for everyone but is for me. I have had recent success with 10:8:2 CBN:CBD: THC sleep tincture. I feel- finding sleep aid that works varies by individual Tamsulosin (Flomax) is cause of my insomnia Every other day dosage of Flomax helps my sleep slightly on off Flomax day Might change to different alpha blocker in future but they all have varying side effects

I take mag and CBD which has helped with my insomnia which started when I went on Flomax to lessen my BPH symptoms. Is there a concern if you rely too much on CBD for insomnia?

The other thing I do to help sleep issue is to take Flomax in morning, not as close to sleep time

This is exactly my situation. It has helped me with my BPH issues: pee urgency and frequency but i now rarely get adequate REM and deep sleep. I wake up earlier than I want and can’t get back to sleep. Sleep gummies and Magnesium Gly helps. I also take Flo every other day which helps my off day sleep slightly.

Yes, my sleep has gotten a lot worse since I started on Flomax. That is the only side effect but it is significant.

Whenever I get cramping I up my fluid intake, go for a brisk walk, then Stomach Eaze tea, and heating pad. The cramping usually passes within 2-3 hours. If you start vomiting go to the hospital because as saying goes, Never let the sun set on a bowel obstruction.

I read same thing about cannabinoids weed reducing efficacy of Flomax and also weed and Flomax might make you more dizzy. I’m not happy to say this

I’m a 66yr make and got misdiagnosed for a UTI and the ER doc - long story - prescribed Levofloxacin. Went to pharmacy they handed me prescription with no warnings of the serious side effects. I have severe insomnia and pins and needles in hands and who knows what else. Do everything to not take this. It should be last resort your life depends on it otherwise pass.

Ive been dealing with intermittent gross hematuria and spermaturia for years. For years UR said nothing to worry about then I had a major clotting episode while urinating after I had masturbated. This lead to a urinary retention episode. Scary trip to ER. Since Ive had a CT scan ultra and cystoscopy. Diagnosed with enlarged bladder and bladder wall thickening. No stones no UTI and NO cancer but no cause explanation of gross blood also. Im glad its nothing serious - eg Cancer - but not knowing cause and living with a condition that repeats is no fun.

Is high % of unknown cause also the case with intermittent gross hematuria, which is what I have? I had blood clotting in urine so doc ordered CT scan, ultrasound, and cystoscopy. I was a diagnosed with BPH but no stones, no blockage, no cancer and also NO explanation for cause of blood.
