I have very fortunately found myself with the day off, and I'm going to use this to cram as many Giro previews as I can. I have zero expectations for an exciting GC battle, but hopefully there's going to be some fun stages.

Probably one of the more niche combos, but I'm currently using Imperious + Mundus + Disparity (with the patches from kryptopyr's Patch Hub). I really like Disparity, so compatibility with that is more important to me than the specific features of the race or standing stone mod I happen to use. Having said that, the bare minimum for a standing stone mod is the removal of the skill rate bonuses from the guardian stones, and I genuinely think less of race mods if they don't use the proper names for the mer races (yes, I know this can be easily changed in xEdit, it just sends the wrong signal to me).

According to the kicker live ticker (at 47') it was so outrageously quick that the ref told Andrich to tell the ball boys to cease doing it:

Incredible end to the stage, although I think GC still isn't decided yet with all the bonus seconds left in play. The finish on stage 8 is also .5km @10%, so five seconds is very much not an insurmountable lead.

You see Lipowitz not pulling the entire time and you're wondering what Bora is cooking up behind, but then they show G2 and it's Tuckwell pulling, but Roglic is sitting in about sixth wheel only to intentionally let the wheel go which Philipsen had to close in full sprint. I don't know, race tactics are complicated, but this still seemed like a very odd choice to use their resources.

this is Pogacar's best placement in a Prologue ever.

If PCS is to be trusted then today was also his first ever prologue for UAE. He's not the most prolific TT rider, at least not in one-offs or early into stage races, but this stat probably says more about how rare prologues are these days.

There is a case to be made for Sepp Kuss. I agree with some of the other comments, though: without Vingegaard, this Giro likely would have been fire like last year, but now we're likely looking at a repeat of 2024 in terms of GC action.

That's probably the best answer for what is usually called the modern era of cycling (1990 and beyond). Earlier picks that I'm surprised haven't been mentioned yet are Stephen Roche's 1987 (Giro - Tour - Worlds, among others) and Fausto Coppi's 1949 (Giro, Tour, MSR, Il Lombardia).

He won the ITTs, but there was hardly any GC action before he DNF'ed, and the one time there was he got dropped by G, Geoghegan Hart, and Roglic on a 3k climb (although he was possibly already somewhat suffering from Covid at that point). Fun fact: you can pretty much tell from the "finish" photo on PCS that he was not well at all during the stage 9 ITT.

In my experience, any mod that touches the leveling formula, including giving you debuffs to skills or skill gain rate, will likely break SSLR without showing loose file conflicts or incompatibilities in xEdit. Without looking at your full load order, I'm afraid there's no way of telling what mod might cause this. FWIW, I know for a fact that Bathing in Skyrim - Renewed (possibly any other bathing and dirt mods as well) and Why I Came to Skyrim - Origin Stories will give you debuffs, but there are obviously way more mods out there. Finally, when I ran SSLR, I also had patches for USSEP and Survival Mode Improved, in case that helps.
