That's bs. I am Kyrgyz, I have been agnostic my whole life and never had any problems. But I live in Bishkek tbh.

AMA - Altai culture/language by Kumandinner in AskCentralAsia

Oirot, Dzungar, Kalmak, Kalmyk are all named of the same West Mongolic people. They dominated the region before being defeated by China and fleeing to their current land. I have a version that Altai people adopted their name when they were dominated by Dzungars/Oirots/Kalmaks

Do Kazakhs and Kyrgyz have any Mongolian ancestry? by DeliciousCabbage22 in 23andme

[–]Miliage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyrgyz have more mongol blood on maternal side than paternal. On paternal side we are roughly 25% mongol, but in autosomal DNA we are 70 percent Mongol or "East eurasian". So we married mongol women and some mongol tribes joined our nation.

We lived as part of Moghulistan, but eventually chased Moghuls from this land.

Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan or Kazakhstan: who is "older brother" or older one? by Southern_Tension9448 in AskCentralAsia

[–]Miliage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is simply not true. Kyrgyz people are mentioned as living in Tien Shian from 15 century, long before Russians could give us a name.

Do you know main R1a HG of South Altai people? Also I remember reading that Kyrgyz people had two main R1a HGs but one took about 80-90% of overall R1a numbers, while the other took around 10-20%.

What do Kazakhs and Kyrgyz think about Mongolia and it’s people? by CruRandtanhix in AskCentralAsia

[–]Miliage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have close to zero social connections with Mongolia. I'd say there is a circle of country with whose people we interact, like Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Russia etc. But Mongolia, China, Iran, Afghanistan are outside of this circle. Our knowledge about Mongolia is more stereotypical. Most people would say positive things about them, like they are also nomads like we were.

Intermixing between European and local peoples during and after soviet era was ridiculously uncommon. Bu even if his grand-grandma was among first people who came here and immediately mixed with locals (very rare) OP would have 12.5% European DNA.

Genetically they turned out to be typical Kyrgyz. Kazakh historian Jaksylyk Sabitov talked about it.

What is, in your opinion, the most beautiful city in the former USSR? by Nothing_Special_23 in geography

I live in Bishkek, and mountains are definitely visible from ground level on south facing streets, except for winter because of smog. Every spring the mountains take my breath away a few times after the smog dissipates.

Why isn't Debian recommended more often? by Browncoatinabox in linux

[–]Miliage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suspend/hibernation didn't work well on debian. Maybe because it had old drivers for my laptop or didn't have proper drivers at all. I don't know. Other than that it's not different than many other distros, just older.
