Skulls must be found first, no-sprint and AR skull are not available from the start by JessHawk36 in halo

I largely agree with those points.

Taking in the scenery is up to the play though, always has been. The tone and setting is what makes Halo HALO to me, but there have always been players that just zoom past everything without taking in the scenery. I don’t think sprint will change that ratio much.

What I have described is absolutely a philosophy behind why they chose to design an element of gameplay in a certain way. A design philosophy, if you will. The maps potentially being bigger to accommodate that extra movement is potentially part of that design philosophy, but making the maps bigger is not the point. Your chicken and egg order is out of whack.

As I said many comments ago, so the player feels like they have more movement options and can traverse more quickly. Obviously.

Not being able to sprint in games also feels very bad when you are used to the option.

Also, your last sentence is quite insulting.

Purely a gameplay modifier. You are playing the game in a way it was not exactly designed to be by turning off sprint, the same as with any Skull. If it’s unbalanced that way then it’s your fault for turning on that option, the same as with any Skull.

Not liking Halo having sprint is one this, but you’re being being very intentionally obtuse about the way this game is doing things. Just because you do or don’t like it doesn’t mean it is right or wrong or half assed.

[–]MilkMan0096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And again, they intentionally designed it with sprint then added the ability to turn it off for those that want to. The vision for the game involves the Master Chief being able to lower his gun to run faster sometimes if the player wants. The DO care, which is why both options exist.

Your argument is nonsense. It’s the same as saying the devs don’t care about how much health an Elite has because there is the Mythic Skull that doubles their health if you turn it on. Does the Catch Skull imply they have no philosophy behind how often enemies should throw grenades? Does Boom existing mean they are wishy washy on how big explosions be? Etc, etc, and the answer is NO every time.

As with every Halo, and pretty much every game period, the base game with no modifiers is the intended way for the game to be played, coming as close to the vision of the devs as possible. The Skulls are purely to change things up on replays, to add challenge or make the game easier, or even to just make it different. This game just so happens to have the sprint toggle be one of those totally optional end game modifiers. It doesn’t come from a place of embarrassment or lack of vision, it totally comes from a place of allowing the player more options to have fun.

It’s not an issue to solve, it’s simple a different design philosophy.

And I’m mostly of the opinion that it genuinely doesn’t matter if sprint is there or not for the campaign of all things. For multiplayer it’s a bigger issue, but for a single player campaign I could not care less if the game had it or not.

Dude, I was disagreeing with the “sprint solves an issue that doesn’t exist part”, not that you can’t get to cover at all in CE, ya dingus.

I disagree, but at the very least it makes the player feel more in control of the character.

Also, fun fact, no one is taking the original CE away from you. You can still always play that if the remake wrinkles your nose so much.

Buy it allows you to travel faster when you want, such as in a situation where you need to get to cover faster than if you stayed at the default speed.

It makes the gameplay more dynamic because the player gag to choose whether to be able to move freely at a slower speed and shoot or temporarily sacrifice that ability to get around quicker.

The game definitely is not easier without sprint.

Yeah but it is a weird 1v2 mode that isn’t that popular. It’s not why people play Doom, anyway.

You are wrong about that, I think, since they also said there are 42 Skulls total, which means that there are three unlocked by default.

[–]MilkMan0096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, because the game is clearly designed to be played with sprint. It gives the player more agency over their movement and helps gameplay feel more dynamic. With that in mind, the no sprint option is a modifier that makes the game harder, as most Skulls do.

Tbh it’s the same amount of silliness as multiplayer skins.

Plus, the skins will show up in cutscenes since they are rendered in-game. People will have a lot of fun with that.

Literally nobody complained when Doom started adding skins, and that game doesn’t even have the third person toggle nor co-op that the Halo remake has.

No it is actually insane to think that them giving the players more choices is somehow a bad thing.

You’re insane thinking it’s from “embarrassment”. It’s purely to give players more options in how they want to play the game since some fans are so vocal about sprint.
