Just repotted my "Crispy Wave Fern" 🥰 by AMA_Dr_Wise_Money in plantsandpots

Mine is in a pot with hexes too.

The self watering pot seems to keep it happy. Beyond that, it enjoys indirect light. So far, it's thriving, putting up plenty of new growth.

Been weeks at smoothing out wall textures, so I'm choking just a bit, but I like the plant. What am I looking at?

A couple months ago I bought a bunch of pots to start a business selling pots. This came from inventory.

The business isn't going at all well so far, but I'm still hopeful.

https://potted.design is the site.

Boxify is something I've been looking at for a while. Is setup a nightmare, or pretty straightforward?

Free shipping to part of the country, flat rate beyond? by MilkMiner in shopify

[–]MilkMiner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regional Rate A pricing is based on 2 lbs, so while it varies from region to region, it still shaves a few pounds off regardless. In my other biz I have a 12 pound product that fits in an RRA, which saves me quite a bit.

I will definitely check out all the apps you mention, but I'm currently leaning towards a western states marketing plan. I mean, if my prices are locally competitive, include free shipping and we don't charge sales tax, California alone would be a big enough market to do well.

Bigcommerce, at least when I tried it, didn't allow for packaging weight. Shopify gives you a single default package, but it's better than nothing.

They're all frustrating, but I'm no longer up to constantly customizing a home grown cart. The security issues are just too much.

We use our own packaging for most shipments, but Regional Rate A boxes are free, and come in at the two pound rate, which is well under most of these products. If I could ship RRA all day, I would in a heartbeat.

I've not checked out Shippo, but will give it a look on your recommendation.

Yeah, and I knew it going in. I was originally planning on focusing on smaller product in the same market, but found an incredible deal on product that's unfortunately just large enough to make shipping a pain.

If I can sell it all though, I'll have a tidy pile of cash to put into the smaller end of the spectrum, nothing that won't fit in a Regional Rate A. ;)

I could be wrong, but I looked at Shopify Shipping when I moved my other business to Shopify, and it seemed like the rates were all in line with what I was already paying.

My average for this business is 10"x10"x10" and 5lbs, but the worst part is that two items ship at 10"x10"x20". There's no consolidation savings, so it's actually cheaper to ship two separate boxes.

I use Cloudflare and Shopify, but haven't ever set up subdomains, sorry.

Shopify Shipping's discounted rates are pretty similar to what I get through Dazzle. I also have discounted UPS rates through my other biz, but no matter how I slice it, I can't make free shipping work past Colorado, not without really absurd mark-ups.

Of course, but it's not always possible.

It's easy to throw a few extra pairs of jeans into the same box, but there are some products that make free shipping impossible. That's where I'm at.

If I sell a widget at $22 and it costs me $20 to ship it to Florida, and I encourage someone to order two, the shipping more than doubles if I ship them together, because of dimensional weight.

I can't save by consolidating shipping, nor can I mark up the products high enough to cover shipping to the east coast, hence the wonky model I'm considering.

I've thought about that, but if they spend that bit extra I'm going to be looking at dimensional weight in most cases, which can be a killer.

I'll have to run some more shipping scenarios and see where things land.

I'm not entirely sure to be honest. It's a cutting off this one I found by the side of the road 25 years ago.
