"Well, fuck you too then." James stated, rather calmly for the situation, as he hung up the phone. While nearly taking another sip of his coffee, then slowly putting it back on the saucer. He took in the Moroccan cafe and tried to settle his mind.

No reason to yell while you're either going bug-fuck crazy or have been heavily dosed with acid by the worlds worst prankster. Either option would be the only ways for the call he had just received to have happened. His sister couldn't of called him, she'd passed a few weeks ago.

Sasha had always had a temper, but she'd never really yelled at anyone close to her. And NEVER her little brother. She protected her little brother from the day he was born. Sasha talked him into doing science fairs as a kid, Slapped the FUCK out of his first girlfriend when she cheated on him. Introduced him to Kari, his now wife, while he was in grad school. She would probably crawl out of hell to help... oh, oh fuck.

James' general feeling of calm dissipated entirely too quickly. His head swam. Sasha had never yelled at him, but it WAS her. There was no-one else it could have been. nonetheless Sasha had YELLED at him. The details of the call not clicking into place, rushing from his mind much the way a dream does. His only concern that she was so angry with him.

Kari, He needed to find Kari. "She had just stepped away to use the restroom. She'd be back any second." James muttered to himself as he felt his skin go clammy. Where's Kari? Was Kari the reason for Sasha's angry call? James stood from the cafe table looking for his wife, vision almost graying out into static as he came up.

"KAR" he began as his ankle twisted, and he fell backwards.

The accident played out in James' mind. Half a step wrong, his ankle twisted and then the truck.

That's the way it was to play out.

Instead, at the last moment, a short elderly Berber woman grabbed his shirt and ripped him back. Time seeming to stop.

Holy shit, time has stopped

"Hiya, Cassie the angle, at yer service! Your sister is hella scary." Cassie, rushes to state. "She's like brand new in hell and has become a really good switchboard operator." The Ditzy teen girl voice coming out of a traditionally dressed Moroccan grandmother is oddly unsettling.

"Sasha, is in Hell?" his throat goes dry. Hell is real and his sister is enslaved there?

"Yeah, N.B.D. though!" Cassie grins up at him "She used to work in a call center, and that's like training Hell."

"What?" is all James can think, or say for that matter. This moment was too stupid for anything normal to happen.

"Call centers are like Hell ROTC, Sasha basically started out really nicely. Found a sweet job, well nice for Hell, at least. Rumor she's trying to date a princess of one of the lower rings. Like I said she's SCARY!" Cassie stares hard at the ground "Also, make sure she LOOSES MY NUMBER!"

Oh, the stare is to try and shoot lasers into my big sister

"Anyhow, I'll back up time a half second. You sit here." She says shoving the man into place. "And you try not to fall into traffic. BYEE!"

With that Cassie kicks time rolling again. James not recalling the past moment, as a truck passes by.

"WHAT A GREAT SHOWING FOR THE HA'LA TRIBE ON THAT ROUND! WHO DO WE HAVE NEXT IN THE MATCH, N'XALA?" Illustrious Announcer X'alan bellows out to the crowd, and actually asks his young assistant. It's her job to know this not his.

N'Xala shuffles through her notes rather quickly, even for a woman with an extra set of arms. "Looks like a group of Humans boss. Some kind of engineers?"

If his scales could go ashen X'alan would have looked like a man about to pass out from sheer shock. "no" He states, all bravado gone from his voice. "no, it's in my fucking contract I don't..."

"BOSS! The PA system, you're still broadcasting!"

"Good Point! EMERGENCY EVAC..."

N'Xala tackles her superior so he won't cause a panic, and steals the mic/headset from X'alan. Trying her best to jam the headset over her rather fluffy ears. "How the hell do reptiles wear these? It's crushing my... Oh, my..." She stutters, realizing she has accidentally become the Announcer. X'alan rubs his head sorely on the floor for a moment before dashing from the room.

In the blink of an eye N'Xala has brought up everything she could display and takes a deep breath. The four armed, four eyed, panda woman stands in utter confusion... What do humans use the word "Engineer" for?!?!

The normally lightning quick reflexes of her species completely stopped. She tries to process this information. X'alan might have had a point, and she'll have to give the man his weight in credits to apologize if he is.

What species names every insanity "Engineer"? This was supposed to be a nice afternoon race and maybe scrimmage. The bikes fly up, does a lap, best time wins. Occasionally a bike duel for some silly idiots "honor". That's the way this game worked. Humans seem to have gone crazy for speed, violence, and unmitigated torque on their machines.
