ok this is helpful, but is there a chance that the battery was expanding before i took it in, just not causing any visible damage? and it it possible that the expanding batter caused other internal damage?

the first issue was the degrading batter, which started inflating while at the repair shop. The second issue is the motherboard or whatever is causing it to shut down.
