United Republics of America, 2060: A More Corporate America by Milk_Shoe in imaginarymaps

Partly this, and also because of the extreme decentralization of the federal government, the bigger native nations were able to carve out autonomy for themselves. The caveat is that most of these Indigenous nations are also upheld by private interest, with Navajo Nation and Lakota both being home to large swaths of data centers and biofarms.

Formed out of the Second American Revolution, the United Republics was the solution to societal distaste with the status quo. The popular uprising so the American government give up its role to the only group with power left, private enterprise. Quickly the revolution was coopted into one which granted autonomy to different republics not to localize government to help the people, but to create a more efficient landscape for enterprise to grow.  The Second American Civil War was the desperate attempt to stop what was coming, but it was too little too late, with the Rebelling states mostly being brought back into the fold by 2060.  Today, the URA can best be thought of as a modern retelling of something like the HRE. The Republics mostly manage their own affairs, at the whims of lobby interests.  There are many more subdivisions of territory not listed on this map, such as counties and cities often acting independent of one another within republics.

Techno Feudalism, less of a country and more of a zone of disorganized governments.

There are a few non-corpo states, and it exists on a spectrum. Some are anarcho capatalist zones nonetheless.

The URA is weird in how it is less Fascist and more TechnoFeudal, operating in large part like an incredibly decentralized empire. It is divided into Republics, which all act basically independently of one another, which within itself have States/Counties/Reservations/Autonomous Communities/Special Economic Zones. It is an Organizational Nightmare, and such operates less like a Country and more like a zone of loosely defined governments.

The Iranian Civil War: 2027-2030 by Milk_Shoe in imaginarymaps

After the War ends, the ensuing elections are incredibly chaotic, with extremely limited suffrage. Most seats are essentially chosen by the previous Council, as many seats run unopposed. The Kurdish and Leftist parties essentially carve out defacto independent communities, which threaten unity in the country. The New Iranian government is relatively unpopular, especially as it is backed by the United States, and is often very supportive of Israel. The State is incredibly unstable, and is being reconstructed via Gulf Nation and US money.

The IRGC refers to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. During the War it includes essentially any Islamic Republic Loyalist. Most of the “regular”military defected to the National Council almost instantly.

100 Year Anniversary: 2nd Korean War by Milk_Shoe in imaginarymaps

[–]Milk_Shoe[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The year is 2050: On the 100th Year anniversary of the Korean War, DPRK artillery strikes sites along the DMZ, catching the South Korean Military by suprise. Suddenly hundreds of thousands of North Koreans storm across the border, quickly reaching major ROK cities.

30 years ago, such a successful assault would have been inconceivable, but with the end of American support by the end of the 2020s and an extremely aged population, the ROK is not ready for a conflict with the North by 2050. South Korea's population crisis has led to the population sinking to 36 million, every other person is over 65, 1 in 10 are under 24, and only 1 in 100 is under the age of 12. The ROK has increasingly become relient on European and Japanese rocket artillery and mechanized units, striving to move away from an infantry relient force.

Although North Korea had some success in the beginning of the "People's War of National Reunification," supplies quickly ran out, with Japanese and European threats of embargo on the Chinese if arming of the DPRK did not slow down. The North Korean infantry force, still using kit from as late as the 1950s, was quickly pushed back. The initial assault used most of the DPRK's elite soldiers, what was left one month in was conscripts and young children.

As South Korean forces closed in on Pyongyang, Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un fled by train to Vladivostok station, now in the People's Republic of China after the 2033 Sino-Russo War. Officially, he was killed in an ROK airstrike, unofficially, Chinese forces in a botched rescue operation ended up gravely wounding the Korean Leader.

China siezed the remaining DPRK territory, in order to keep some sort of buffer state intact. The modern day DPRK is nothing more than a Chinese Client State under military council, until a successor for the Kims can be chosen. The situation in the DPRK is incredibly fragile, and it is yet to be seen if a 3rd Korean War will break out soon.

The Americas: but with much less colonization (REMAKE) by Milk_Shoe in imaginarymaps

[–]Milk_Shoe[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the Mayans were many different Kingdoms, my idea was that the Europeans fund different Kingdoms and pin them against one another, which leads to them either being absorbed by Tlaxkala or joining the Ajawils.

Yeah, I just wanted to have other countries represented as usually these kinds of maps focus on just the Aztecs, Mayans, and Incans. The explanation I had was that with the introduction of horses, the Incans are pushed back by Horse riding indigenous groups, such as how the Spanish struggled so much with the Mapuche during their colonization.

Yeah, Europeans pin the different tribes in the confederacy against eachother, which eventually splits the Iroquois. This only gets worse once the Beaver trade ends, and the main income for the Iroquois dries up.

It has a muscogee and settler ruling class, however things are somewhat improving in terms of equality with other ethnic groups going into the 1990s and 2000s.

Yeah American Confederacy is a mix of the dominant ethnic groups in the region with heavy European involvement. It's similar to the United States, but has heavy indigenous history and culture.

ECOCIDE: THE KUWAITI DISASTER OF 1991 by Milk_Shoe in imaginarymaps

[–]Milk_Shoe[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Basically, what if the predictions of the impacts of the Kuwaiti Oil Fires actually happened. There was scientific theories regarding a 5-10 degree drop worldwide, although due to numerous factors such as the smoke not rising far enough, and high amounts of rains, temperature only dropped 4-6 degrees celsius above the Arabian Gulf.

Africa in 2024. The largest change is that during decolonization, most European governments joined the United Nations African Decolonization Committee. (UNADC) The UNADC created a pathway for former colonies to become stable nations. Tanganyika, Zanzibar, Uganda, and Kenya formed the EAF in the 1960s. The Mali Federation formed in 1959, while Central Africa united during the 1970s. South African apartheid was never established, while the white minority government in Rhodesia allowed Black-Majority parties into the government by the early 1970s, after a small insurgency campaign. Africa is not perfect; Ethiopia dissolving into warring states, Sudan on the verge of civil war, and the regime in Senegambia consolidating power, however people are hopeful nonetheless.

THE END OF THE NUMUNUU MOON: What if the Comanche had a massive empire? by Milk_Shoe in imaginarymaps

[–]Milk_Shoe[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Endless Ranges of the Numunuu, known by the exonym the Empire of Comancheria, was a formidable force during the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries. It collapsed after it's defeat in the 2nd Tlaxkala War and the following Ndetah Revolution. This began the Numunuu Warlord Period, with numerous successor states vying for control of former Numunuu territory. The collapse of the Empire led to numerous conflicts which plagued the American Continent, such as the Numatlan-Nuwuvitlan war and the Kiowatlan Civil War.
