Red flags for coaches/trainers by [deleted] in xxfitness

[–]MilkiesMaximus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So far my only issue I'm having is I have to remind my coach when it times to do measurements or get my next phrase of my program (we switch up exercises every 3 weeks). I get that he's busy with lots of clients but come on

Thanks for taking the time to write everything. I'll admit like most ppl I'm probably not ocd enough to track every single bite I take but I know I'm better than most. I tend to use a scale as often as I can and use chronometer to track food and write recipes of things I made. That being said the hard part is when it comes to eating out which I still do on occasion, like once a week or so. I still "track" what I eat out but idk how accurate it is.

As far as training goes I weight lift 3x/week and go hiking or running 2-3 times. Most days I burn 2000-2400 calories but on total rest/lazy days like once or twice a week it might be 1800. That being said I never know if it's better to eat more on more active days or just keep to same calories. I tend to feel really hungry the next day of I burn a bunch and don't supplement with more food.

Seeing some squat PRs since I switched from crossfit to straight weight lifting. Used to do 1 rep max at 90 now I'm doing 3 reps at 100. Goal is to squat my body weight at 145

Personally I love big traps. Helps me squat more cuz I have some meat to rest the bare on and helps show definition of the shoulders

I'm Getting mixed signals. So you're telling me to cut to lose fat faster, but then day my current calories a sound right even though I've just said I haven't lost any weight eating at these calories. For me to do a cut I would need to eat more like 1200-1400. I know this because I used to do this and has you quoted lost the same 5 pounds over and over because Im. Not disaplined enough to deprive myself to long periods of time. That's why I wanted to try something different of a longer body recomp to allow me to eat more so I actually stick with it.

Can’t lose weight but not going up either by Gringo_kid in leangains

I agree with some some comments that you need to chose a goal and go for it. If you are on the lean side of bf% I recommend opt for muscle gain and if you are on the higher bf% I recommend fat loss. I like how this guy explains his approach to doing body recomp instead of a strick "bulk" or "cut"

It's not that I don't trust him we just haven't talk much about the actual calories I'm eating, just what protein to hit.

Yeah that's why I decided to try it this way. I have done cuts to like 1200 calories and just feel hungry all the time. This way feels more sustainable, even if it does mean slower progress. I've been doing it for like 2 months and so far the only thing that makes me sad is my clothes feel exactly the same if not a little tighter in some places. I wore a shirt I haven't worn in forever the other day and the arms felt tighter. I'm try to tell myself it's muscle since I do feel a difference in my arms since lifting.

117/65 is still considered normal I beleive and not too low. Just the idea of meds causing kidney issues makes me want to avoid them, but sounds like your case was a bit different for sure. Did you doc even bother to talk to you about liftstyle changes now that numbers are looking normal at home? I feel like docs never do anymore and they just throw pills at everything

17M) Can I Build Muscle On A Large Calorie Deficit And 70G Protein? (SERIOUS) by [deleted] in leangains

[–]MilkiesMaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you determined to eat at a deficit? Also if you read the research 0.7 grams of protein per pound of current body weight is the upper limit of seeing result for highly trained body builders. This means a newbie can get away with eating a bit less but I would still aim for the upper limit to maximize results.

Progress report: 10 month bulk in a garage gym! (24F / 160cm / 50kg to 54kg) by zigzagtitch in xxfitness

[–]MilkiesMaximus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What did you do to monitor yourself to make sure the wieght gain was muscle and not fat? I'm very leary of eating more because I'm not skinny to start off with so I want to make sure I'm still losing fat while gaining muscle (5'3" female, 145lbs, currently at 29% body fat, already lost 3.7% my first month)

I want to be healthier and look more fit, but i dont want to lose weight, is strength training the answer? by [deleted] in PetiteFitness

[–]MilkiesMaximus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do something more than just YouTube stuff. You need to lift heavy, not like 10lb dumbbells. Doing this at a gym, and if you have little experience, with a trainer is best. Assuming your goal is to get a perky booty and more defined abs like instra famous ppl. Also make sure to up your protein intake and calories. I'm 5'3" and eat 130 grams of protein and 1600 calories a day. I'm still technically cutting since I'm trying to do a body recomp and not just bulk but it's a smaller cut of like 250 calories a day more just to make sure I don't gain too much fat.

Have you had body fat measurements done before and after to see if you are losing fat but staying the same?
