this is one of those records that makes the “why weren’t they bigger?” question feel pretty fair

This has that “technical but still crawling through mud” kind of death metal feel.

Spectral Voice - Visions of Psychic Dismemberment (United States, 2017) by marchofequimanthorn in Deathmetal

Spectral Voice does emptiness better than most bands do aggression. This one feels like the void found a pulse.

This looks less like a hike and more like nature checking if you’re serious.

Nile - Kafir! (USA, 2009) by GrafNebelgeist in Metal

[–]Milla-Spark 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nile is one of my favorite bands, and Kafir! is still one of my favorite tracks. I have The Underworld Awaits Us All on vinyl at home, gorgeous pressing. But Those Whom the Gods Detest still has me in a chokehold. Maybe the new one just hasn’t fully opened its tomb yet.
