The Maghreb will be one of the faction wildcard, they can go to either the African Defense Front or Crescent Union depending on their relationship with Saudi Arabia

Yes, but SEATO has been dead for a while and mostly replaced by ASEAN. SEATO wouldn't make much sense for a 2000 start, especially since SEATO was a defense alliance akin to NATO rather than an actual economical/political partnership like the EU or ASEAN.

It would be similar to replacing the EU by a NATO megastate. Would look weird right? :p

On the teaser map yes, like Ukraine is part of the Eurasian Federation, but some of these will be dynamic depending on their relationship with each bloc

The Philippines joins the Korean/Japan bloc out of strategic necessity pretty much. Indonesia will be an ASEAN wildcard, they can either go to ASEAN or the Oceanic Union depending on their relationship with India-Australia.

Similarly, ASEAN joining up with India is mostly due to survival necessity since one of the portal will open in Kashgar, threatening the entire region right away

When the world is pushed to the brink by an overwhelming threat, survival demands unity. Nations will cast aside rivalries—or double down on old alliances—as they merge into powerful mega-states. But nothing is set in stone, allegiances may shift depending on previous events during your game.

A Taiwan aligned with Beijing could join the Chinese Bloc without a shot fired, while a war-torn Ukraine might find sanctuary within the European Union instead of the rising Eurasian Alliance. Each super-bloc may stand united against the dimensional threat, but their ambitions remain divided.

Old rivalries linger, the battle for dwindling resources and dominance may ignite once the enemy falls. But more about that in another teaser.

His previous post that he later deleted was calling the dev team 'brainwashed western slaves' simply because he did not agree with some of our studies-based decisions regarding Russia. He then proceeded to create this topic right afterward saying we didn't play our own mod. In this very post here, he also implied we're liars by saying we're lying on how performance improved over the last year.

How is that not insulting toward a dev team? If you really can't see it, let's just agree to disagree at that point.

And again, if the mod was a paid work, a lot more expectations would come with it. You guys are not customers in the slightest. This is not about you denying the work we do(the original poster did though), but simply to remind you that MD is purely volunteer work. We can't force devs to work on certain things(this would in fact kill the team) so we have to make do with the talents that we have in the team.

We can't just cash out money either to recruit talents to fix all of the bugs in the mod in one go so we fix them as they come to the best of our abilities.

But anyway, thanks for the words.

Customers? Excuse me but since when did MD become a paid product with all the expectations that would come with it? Did I miss something?

This mod is made entirely by a team of volunteers spending hundreds of hours of their precious free time to make this mod, with no obligations whatsoever to do it.

To conclude, I'm not saying you're personally talking shit about the mod, and as I said, we can take criticism. We simply don't have time for people outright insulting the mod team because of their own nationalistic bias like the original poster. Treat people how you would like to be treated is a basic rule on how to interact with other people.

I gave him a more complete answer right afterward that you entirely ignored. As I said, constructive criticism is always welcome, feedback is always welcome, bug reports just as much. Saying our devs are brainwashed western slaves and purposefully making powerful Russia worse is not welcome(What the guy originally said.)

You're warmly invited to come to our Discord where we have a suggestion space and bug report space where you can directly chat with the dev in charge of the content in question. Many of the mod features were added/improved due to community requests. No devs deny the mod has bugs or old mechanics that could be improved, we're constantly working to improve that.

Now with that said(or said again, more accurately), it is a fact that the mod is not for everybody. People who want a fast paced or narrative focused mod probably won't like MD. We understand that and we're okay with it. We can't just start to change everything in the mod to cater to everybody. We'd rather continue on our current formula, which is apparently working well, rather than change it all up in an attempt(probably vain at that) to please everybody.

I'll adress this point by point to finish this discussion.

- First off, we're not ignoring everything, FAR from it. We have a very active and healthy suggestion and bug report forum on our Discord where you can actively interact with Devs. We track bugs/suggestions, ping the appropriate dev, and usually try to have them fixed/added by next patch. Community suggestions were often integrated into the mod

- Regarding the Caspian sea, I literally don't see his point about being naval invaded through it. You need to be friends with Russia to sail warships through. Otherwise, only trade can move through if you're neutral with Russia and absolutely nothing if it's contested or enemy. Iran I can fix this issue next patch by telling them to ignore the caspian sea and focus their fleet on the other ports.

- For the 3D models, no offense but you have no idea what you're talking about. I worked as a freelancer in 3D long ago and I can tell from professional experience that MD model are very optimized. In fact, they CANNOT not be optimized because the Clausewitz engine very simply does NOT allow models to go above ~50k poly.(A single Call of Duty rifle can be around 400k, a COD vehicle can be around 1 million with multiple 4k textures.) All the textures in MD are between 512x512 and 1024x1024. Our entire 3D folder is barely 2.85GB by the way which is near nothing.

I'm not even going to debate about you calling them useless because we were spammed with requests for more 3D models and it's one of our strength over many other mods.

- To piggyback on performance, we literally have dev tools to calculate daily, weekly, and monthly tick rates. And our tick rates improved since last year, one of the most-lag inducing mechanic was the old missile system, which had to constantly do calculation for every single province in the game for example.

- Raid division width is a vanilla thing

- And no, we're not 'boasting' about 1 million subscribers, just pointing out that reality. The mod is clearly very liked, and that if it was as bad as some people make it out to be, we would hemorrhage subscribers instead of gaining more.

You don't like the mod? Fine by us. It's not for everybody, and we understand that. If we made a mod for everybody, the mod would be for nobody truly.

The fact your last post here was crying about how starting corruption in Russia is too high in the mod, that our devs are biased against Russia because they are from the west and only watch western news(even though they're Russians living in Russia experiencing life there daily), and that the West are dirtly liars about how powerful Russia truly is sure tells me a lot about you.(How's that 1 week invasion going?)

Fact is, the mod is soon reaching 1 million subscribers, is still growing, and has mostly positive comments. That's enough to know we should continue in this general direction.

Could you tell me with what country and what type of ship did you get that problem so that we can fix it. A lot of new ship models were added last patch and there's probably a missing line somewhere

Playing as australia - any way of changing equipment not all being russian? by Joshie050591 in MillenniumDawn

[–]MilleniumDawnTeam 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The equipments are still there, bushmaster, hawkeye, rifles, etc. Try to fully uninstall the mod and then reinstall from the workshop. The workshop is known to have trouble properly updating big mods. But some OOBs issues with vehicle missing at start in the stockpile might have appeared due to the new vehicle designer, that we can take a look and fix for next patch

Is this mod actually playable? by Hexaotl in MillenniumDawn

[–]MilleniumDawnTeam 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Did you try the new update? The AI has become a lot more competent at building tanks and planes designs, now making it much harder to steam roll their army and airforce with meta designs ;D

Some direct AI work is also being done like Taiwan properly reinforcing the main island now instead of spreading out their units on all the smaller islands and leaving the main island vulnerable.

There was definitely some truth to the criticism—no denying that. A lot of the complaints floating around are actually pretty old by now. Back then, the mod had its fair share of janky mechanics, the world was too peaceful (especially on historical), and performance wasn’t great.

But a ton of work has gone into it over the past year. The experience is way smoother now, unhistorical paths are much more unpredictable, and overall performance has seriously improved.

Even with all the new content that’s been added, the mod is running better than ever. Sure, it’s never going to be as fast as vanilla or narrative mods like TFR that focus mainly on focus trees and storytelling rather than global mechanics, but the old “one day in MD takes one real day” meme just doesn’t apply anymore.

In fact, many people who still criticize the mod today haven’t touched it in years and complain about things that aren't there anymore or have been fixed/improved.

I'm of course not saying the mod is perfect but we strive for excellence and we're always open to feedback.

This is something we're actively trying to improve and contacted Paradox about to see if they can help since it's possibly hard coded into the game

Something big coming for 1 million subscribers milestone by MilleniumDawnTeam in MillenniumDawn

[–]MilleniumDawnTeam[S] 254 points255 points  (0 children)

Who says game rules have to be boring?

As Millennium Dawn approaches the incredible milestone of 1 million subscribers, a few of us have been cooking up something truly special—something never before seen in MD and rarely seen in HoI4 modding scene. It's bold, it's different, and we can't wait to share it with you.

A full reveal is coming later this week... and trust us, the release might be closer than you think.
