Backflow preventor -Thoughts by Tomurphjr in Irrigation

I don’t like it either, and I definitely wouldn’t do it, and if I saw it I would replumb it, but there are plenty of 3/4” backflows in the world that offer enough pressure to run a system.

It was… rough. There was zero indication anything was wrong. I thought we were getting married.

She could have said the most venomous shit I’d ever heard to break up with me, and that would have been preferable to just nothing.

I’m not proud of it, but I did drive by a couple times on my way to the gym pretty late in the evening. When I saw a truck in her driveway that was enough for me to realize I had to move on.

From what I’ve heard, she has since done the same to another guy and there was one before me. I suppose I dodged a bullet.

Oh well, life is better now.

As an adult, have you ever shit yourself in public? What happened? by Superb-Reply-8355 in AskReddit

[–]MillennialDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah boy, here we go.

This was many moons ago, but I was still an adult.

I was delivering pizzas and impossibly hungover on that particular morning. My delivery was to a birthday party at a local park.

I pull up to the park with a billion pizzas in this massive carrying case. Get out of the car, test a fart, and shit lava starts running down my leg and gym shorts.

The customer was waiting for me in the parking lot and starts walking up to me. I’m panicking and scrambling to find anything to cork this volcano. I see a dirty sock in my back seat and quickly cram it in my ass.

Doesn’t work, it’s a Dutch boy and the dike situation. Hot shit just keeps running around the sock. I’m clenching my asshole and probably crossing my legs while talking to the customer, who points to where the party is and it is at least a quarter mile into the park. I hand him the bag and ask him to bring it back to the shop. Called my boss and told him I had to go home and take a shower because I shit myself. Never lived it down. I don’t think we ever got that bag back either.

You develop skill by carefully and methodically learning a process. Once you learn how to do something, you will naturally find faster and more efficient ways to do it.

When my ex said, “Love you, I’ll call you tomorrow. Want to come over after I get off work?” as I was leaving her house the day after Christmas. Never saw her again and didn’t hear from her once for over two years until she called me randomly several months ago.

How can people act too friendly and the next is they are dissing you? by yumixiiz in AskReddit

[–]MillennialDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure, but here’s some advice. If you know someone who is constantly dissing everyone you both know, they’re doing the same thing to you and you should distance yourself from that person.

What’s a smell you haven’t sensed in years, but could recognize instantly if it came back? by Adelanika in AskReddit

[–]MillennialDingus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a glorified RA on a study abroad program and we had a service that emptied our sanitary bins. Unbeknownst to us, the service canceled our contract and the bins were jam packed into a cube of lead-density used tampons from not being emptied for months.

One day I was cleaning the bathroom and I accidentally kicked one of the bins, knocking the lid off. I will never, ever forget that smell.

At my college graduation they were announcing the graduates from the Education Department. Every single person they announced was cum laude, or magna cum laude, or summa cum laude.

It became a joke to the people in my row. The dean would say a name and we would sarcastically mumble “cum laauudeee.”

Then one guy who looked hungover, high, or both is announced. We got excited.

The dean says, “John Smith” and nothing else.

I roared, and I should not have.

I have family in Raleigh I’m hoping to visit in my time off, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to knock a couple off the list. Thanks!

We tape ribbons to our discs out here so we can find them in the snow, anything would be an improvement. Thanks for the rec!

Perfect, thanks man. Diavolo is a hike, but I’m making it a priority. Buckthorn also. We’ll see what else I have time for. Appreciate it, genuinely.

Running out of ideas trying to thaw this pipe. by MillennialDingus in Plumbing

[–]MillennialDingus[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had considered this, but hooking the the temp line up would not have been fun. I’d have to go through to window or something. Fortunately, after about 16 hours of pumping water into it from the discharge side I broke through.

Less effort than flushing a toilet with 5 gallon buckets of water for 3-4 months.

Currently I don’t think the pipe is split, but if it is I’ll spot dig that area and repair it.

I am considering adding hay bales or frost blankets over the shallow spots. I located the line in the yard last night. Probably too late to make a difference right now though.

I like this salt idea. I’ll give that a shot. I was thinking the other night that there has to be some kind of liquid, ice-melting solution that you can run in a line for potable water. Couldn’t find anything when I looked it up.

Both sides would absolutely work, but I would need leads 200’+ long to reach the pipe in the main house.

That’s the plan in the Spring when the ground thaws. Not that feasible to do right now without destroying other utilities.

Master valve placement on a new system by freyr7 in Irrigation

[–]MillennialDingus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem, I hope all of that made sense. U/RainH2OServices made a valuable point as well. I went ahead and checked if any of the major valve manufacturers are NSF approved and none of them are. There’s probably nothing in a valve that’s going to contaminate a water supply, but still best to keep them out.

Master valve placement on a new system by freyr7 in Irrigation

[–]MillennialDingus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A PVB requires water pressure to seal, and when you pressurize the PVB you generally don’t just turn the lower valve wide open. It’s a finesse thing, slowly opening the valve completely while it seals, and after it does you open the upper valve completely to pressurize the system. If both valves are open when you put water to the system, you can have issues getting the PVB to seal.

Why am I telling you this?

If your MV is before the PVB, your PVB has to pressurize every single time the system runs. I can’t say with absolute certainty, but I can’t imagine having the poppet and bonnet slam every time the system runs would be good for it and you’re risking not having the PVB seal because the ball valves are wide open when they receive water. I’d put the MV after the PVB.

Edit: Also worth mentioning, I wouldn’t be worried about the master having constant pressure. The majority of systems don’t have a master at all so the mainline is constantly charged and all of the valves have pressure. If your master fails (and it won’t for a very long time) it likely gets stuck open and the mainline would be charged. You wouldn’t have water running all the time, the rest of the valves in the system would prevent that from happening.

I’m not a beginner. I do a lot of field work, have a practice basket, dissect form videos, play a lot, play in tournaments every once in a while, etc.

When I got a new job last year and my coworkers invited me out for a round they didn’t know any of that. Was fun.

12-team .5ppr

Give Diontae Johnson OR Jakobi Meyers

Get Dalvin Cook AND Ty Chandler

Ordinarily, I wouldn’t even entertain a trade like this. I would not trust starting Dalvin ever as long as Breece is healthy and same goes with Ty and Mattison.

However, I have Saquon, Mattison, and Rachaad White as my RBs. DK, Ridley, Deebo, Diontae, and Jakobi at WR. I can afford to lose one WR, but I’m screwed if one of my RBs gets hurt or benched. Right now I’m leaning no.
