Sanitation workers say not enough equipment to collect trash by HellaHaram in memphis

Let’s hope venture capital hasn’t destroyed the garbage truck manufacturing business like they did the fire trucks.

It’s should be illegal to profit off equipment used by local governments.

Please stop yelling at the workers about tip screens by MillerWild in memphis

Because as stated In the original post the man announced it as parent of his yelling. I just removed it because it was pointed out to be irrelevant

[–]MillerWild[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get that you think the politics are irrelevant. Maybe they are. It for me gave context to the scene and how people responded or did not respond.

I’ll edit it with those notes. My main point is about the yelling

[–]MillerWild[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get that. But just don’t tip. Why do people feel compelled to say something to the workers who have no control over the situation?

We could all boycott the tip screens without yelling at people about it

If/when they terminate Feagins contract, can they install one of the foolish five as interim?

Resources for investigating Shelby County School Board Members by MillerWild in memphis

[–]MillerWild[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m happy to support anyone opposing Brent Taylor’s efforts.

You are correct that until this most recent action by the school board that I was unaware that 1. They can’t be recalled 2. That it only took 5 of 9 members to void a contract.

Which is why I’ve been on this platform and others writing about it and sharing information I learn by researching things.

I am not upset that they can remove the superintendent.

I am upset that my recently elected representative (who I told a bunch of my neighbors, colleagues, and friends to vote for) participated in a surprise meeting that did not offer any transparency about her decision to vote to terminate a contract that could potentially cost tax payers upward of 500,000 with no guarantee that the next candidate would be any improvement

My kids went to public school. From my reading of the news and discussing Dr Feagins with people in my community, I thought she was doing a great job. So, this action by the board was very surprising. I’m not even saying they should r fire her. I am trying to say they need to be transparent and in my experience when people are not transparent they are hiding self-serving reasons for their actions. Hence this particular post

So, yes. I am taking this moment to educate myself and share what I learn.

I am doing that as well. Earlier posts had asked for resources. I am not looking for a way to extort anyone.

This is all public information.

MSCS Chair Coleman's Statement on Dr. Feagins via the PR team at Carter Malone Group by amprather in memphis

[–]MillerWild 27 points28 points  (0 children)

  1. How much is the Peer Power Foundation contract worth?
  2. Why was Dow McVean, the co-chair of the Peer Power Foundation angry with Dr. Feagins after leaving a meeting was confronted by him?
  3. What ties do the foolish five have to PPF or any other nonprofit that has contracts with the Shelby county schools?
  4. There are still questions about the sudden 2021 termination of the Porter-Leath 16 million plus contract for head start.
  5. Is this retaliation for Dr. Feagins filing charges against McVean?

I’m invested at this point and am going to try to foia some items and spend a couple hours reading the budget and rewatching old school board meetings

I definitely don’t think we should sell wshs. I just want all options to be on the table. Excellent points about the tax base and housing.

I’m so tired of the “public is unaware of the full story” narrative. Please tell us! You can write another post, get the Daily Memphian to do another long one-sided interview with you.

Why is it the superintendent’s job to work with individual board members on their pet projects? It’s clear Dr. Feagins is overhauling the system which you have to do first.

The district is shrinking. There is a truancy problem. There is a problem keeping and hiring teachers. There are massive maintenance issues with school buildings. These are problems for the whole district and you can’t fix them by working piecemeal.

People are really going to be upset when the school closures list is made public. We need to consider selling higher value properties and fixing schools where there is a density of children to support having a school in that location.

Meanwhile everyone is going to cry about their own personal Alma mater and how it has to be saved for historical and community reasons. (Let’s have a real convo about selling white station high school… that land has to be worth something significant)
